How will I earn and redeem One Key rewards?
You can earn and use OneKeyCash on eligible bookings when you become a One Key member.
Earning:
- As long as you’re a One Key member, and sign in before you make any bookings, you’ll earn rewards and collect trip elements across all eligible travel bookings.
- Here’s what you earn: Blue members earn 1% in OneKeyCash, and Silver, Gold and Platinum members earn 2% in OneKeyCash per ¥100 spent1 on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, activities, Flight + Hotel, and car rentals. All members earn 0.2% in OneKeyCash per ¥100 spent on eligible flights. You can earn more on stays at eligible VIP Access Properties as you move up the tiers. And don’t forget, you can earn OneKeyCash on top of airline miles and credit card rewards.
Redeeming:
- With One Key, you can now redeem rewards on eligible flights. You will need enough OneKeyCash to cover the entire cost including taxes and fees.
- OneKeyCash cannot be redeemed for cash and is not transferable to other members, but you can redeem OneKeyCash on eligible bookings in someone else’s name.
- For more details on redemption please reference our terms, linked below.
Expiration:
- Any existing Expedia Rewards points converted to OneKeyCash will retain their original expiry dates.
- After you become a One Key member, your OneKeyCash (including your converted OneKeyCash) won’t expire as long as you have made an eligible booking or redeemed OneKeyCash through a participating brand on your account at least once in the preceding eighteen (18) months.
Account currency:
- You can earn and redeem your OneKeyCash on bookings made in currencies offered in participating regions. However, OneKeyCash will always be tied to the currency associated with your account. We will look at your booking activity conducted in the last 12 months in regions where One Key is live and align your account currency with the region most booked in when One Key arrives in that region. If you do not have any recent bookings, your account currency will be determined by the region you created your account in.
- For example: If you have a One Key Japan account and an Expedia Rewards Sweden account, with more bookings in Sweden, we will adjust the currency associated with your account to the Swedish Krona (SEK) when you become a One Key member in Sweden.
¹Excluding amounts spent on taxes and fees. OneKeyCash is not redeemable for cash and can only be used to discount eligible travel on Expedia and other participating brands. Terms, eligibility requirements and exclusions apply, see link to terms below.
How will my One Key tier be determined?
- We will make sure any eligible activity¹ across your accounts count toward your tier status.
- Existing Expedia Rewards members will have their eligible activity counted toward their One Key tier status. To calculate this, we will either take your calendar year 2024 activity OR your activity from January 1, 2025 to the date you become a One Key member, whichever is higher.
- If you are already a member of One Key elsewhere, any eligible trip elements from Japan will be added to your One Key account, which can get you even closer to reaching the next tier.
- For 2026, any trip elements collected in 2025 will count toward your 2026 status. This includes any trip elements collected in 2025 before the date you become a One Key member from any eligible activity. Tier status will be earned on a calendar year basis, from Jan 1 to Dec 31. Your status for the upcoming year will be determined according to the number of trip elements you have collected by Dec 31 and your progress will reset as of Jan 1.
Your new One Key status
| Your 2026 status
|
---|---|
Any trip elements collected from eligible activity¹ traveled between EITHER Jan 1, 2024 through Dec 31, 2024 OR Jan 1, 2025 through the date you become a One Key member, whichever is higher. |
Any trip elements collected in 2025 from eligible activity¹ (prior to the launch of One Key). PLUS |
1 “Eligible activity” means: A booking made from Expedia Rewards Japan, while signed in that would have qualified for a trip element in accordance with the Expedia Rewards Japan terms in place before the launch of One Key.
How do you move up the tiers in the One Key program?
The more trip elements you book, the more status you earn.
What’s a trip element? They’re the different parts of a trip—One Key takes every trip element into account and rewards you for it.
Trip elements include:
- 1 air ticket (one way or roundtrip)
- 1 hotel room night (each night counts as a trip element)
- 1 night in a vacation rental
- 1 day car rental
- 1 roundtrip ground transportation ticket (airport shuttles, transfers, etc.)
- 1 activity ticket (a private tour, a theme park ticket, etc.)
Trip elements must be worth ¥2,500 or more (excluding taxes and fees) to qualify.
Your tier status
It’s fast and easy to move up One Key tiers. Here’s what you need to book to qualify for each tier:
- Blue – Just sign up, it’s free!
- Silver – 5 trip elements within a year
- Gold – 15 trip elements within a year
- Platinum – 30 trip elements within a year
- So, for example, if you booked 2 nights in a hotel and a 3-day car rental, you’d earn 5 trip elements, enough to reach Silver tier status in one trip.
What do I need to do to join One Key?
When One Key launches in a region, existing Expedia members will automatically be transitioned over to the updated program. In the meantime, Expedia Rewards members can keep earning and redeeming rewards with our current programs.
How can I stay up to date with One Key?
Make sure you are subscribed to ‘Offers and Recommendations’ to stay up to date on the latest One Key offers.
- All you have to do is sign in and go to: Account > Communications > select Expedia > select Offers and recommendations > select Email and/or Push
How does this affect my Expedia Rewards?
- One Key takes your favorite parts of the Expedia Rewards program and adds new benefits to help you travel better.
- Your Expedia Rewards points will automatically be converted to OneKeyCash when you become a One Key member.
- Confirmed points in your account will be converted into OneKeyCash at their full value, ¥100 in Expedia Rewards Points = ¥100 in OneKeyCash
- The value of your rewards for existing bookings made prior to becoming a One Key member will not change. After you become a One Key member, you will earn rewards at the new One Key rate on eligible bookings made. If you change an existing Expedia Rewards booking after transitioning to One Key, you will earn the new One Key rate on that booking.
- Trip elements earned on travel that begins in one membership year and ends in the next membership year will be allocated on a pro-rata basis where multiple trip elements are earned for that travel. For example, if you book a hotel stay from December 30, 2025 to January 3, 2026, you will earn two trip elements toward your 2025 membership year, and two trip elements toward your 2026 membership year.
- Here are details about how your earnings will change:

- You will be able to earn and use rewards on eligible vacation rentals and use rewards on eligible flights.
- The bonus point offer for booking in the app, and the redemption of rewards for Expedia package discount coupons will be discontinued once One Key has launched.
- Our VIP Access property partners will only be providing free WiFi and late checkout when available.
When will my Expedia Rewards transfer over from other regions?
- If you have Expedia Rewards accounts in different regions, your rewards and trip elements will transfer to One Key when One Key launches in that region, and you become a One Key member in that region.
- Until then, you will have separate active Expedia Rewards accounts with Expedia Rewards points to use in each region where you have an account.
- For example: If you have Japan and Sweden Expedia accounts, you will have separate OneKeyCash you can use in the Japan One Key Program, and Expedia Rewards points you can use in the Sweden Expedia Rewards program until One Key launches in Sweden. When One Key launches in Sweden and you become a One Key member, those Expedia Rewards points will convert to OneKeyCash and combine with your Japan balance. Any trip elements will also be carried over as well, getting you closer to the next tier status.
- The same process will follow for all other regions. Accounts in other regions will be transitioned when you become a One Key member in that region.
- One Key may launch in several regions at a similar time. If you're notified that multiple accounts you hold in different regions are being transitioned, you may not be able to see your rewards in your One Key account until the transition is complete in all regions.
Why can’t I see my past bookings?
During the transition to One Key, some members may be unable to view their booking and rewards history temporarily. Shortly after becoming a One Key member, their booking and rewards history will be accessible again. If you encounter this and need assistance, please contact us.
How do I request the deletion of my account?
If you do not want to be a part of One Key, you can delete your account via the below. Please note, this will delete your account across Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo in all regions.
