We stayed here for 30 minutes and that was too long but we were trying to find other accommodation or face the journey home. No way could we stay in this tiny, dirty room,it was disgusting
Staff were superb , nothing too much trouble .
Food was very tasty and cooked to order .
Bed was very comfortable. Would recommend the larger cabin as space inside the Seagull was limited .
All in all , a very different stay especially if you want to get away from the hotel chain venues
Very quirky accommodation, super friendly staff. Excellent food. If you get to eat in the buffet car it feels like the orient express. If I am ever in York again I would certainly stay here.Remember you are next to a working railway.
Good for those with limited mobility as on the mostly flat, but unlikely to get a wheelchair down the aisle of the accommodation so I would suggest calling before booking as they may have more accessible than we had.
Really nice stay the railway cars were a unique and different experience, I will definitely stay again.
Food was nice and service great.
Would recommend a stay here.
Love the theme, the staff, and the cosy bar and restaurant area. It's a unique place and a great experience for anyone who likes trains. It also serves great food and the bar and restaurant areas have a lovely atmosphere. One of the most fun hotel stays ever!
Its our third visit and we really love it there. From the owner Sid and all his staff you cannot fault the friendly and efficient service. We will ne back !!
My wife and I stayed the night with our 2 children 4 and 7. The room was plenty big enough for us and the staff were friendly and helpful. The children loved the novelty of sleeping on a train and watching them go past as we enjoyed our very nice cooked breakfast. Thanks to all the staff who made us feel very welcome.
Our stay was fabulous. Rooms were really unique, food was amazing (we had the meze one evening, make you sure you starve yourselves all day!). Staff are really friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend
We love everything about the sidings. We wish we could come every week.
Only difference is, last time we came the meal was in the price of the room and breakfast, this time we paid seperate and extra.
Also the breakfast was far less superia than last time, slightly disappointed with breakfast but everything else 100%
Setting was close to unique (I think there's only a couple like it in the whole country). Staff went out of their way to be helpful and even changed our room at very short notice to accommodate my being on crutches. About the only thing that wasn't first class was the shower - they simply can't get enough hot water.
The stay was good as we had a meal booked at the siding. The room had everything you would need for the stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The stay was different because of the train carriage.
Opening the door to the car hit with mold smell. Particularly in my room, to discover where and why. Severe mold, needs top to bottom cleansing.

Overall it was nice the bedrooms could with with a bit of an update and better facilities eg: there was know where to hang clothes and know where to do hair and makeup. The pillows were also uncomfortable, but the bar and eating areas were much more pleasant
Place is fab especially on Greek night.
Only down side was mould on curtains but windows get condensation on which transfers.

Very quaint property, obviously it’s made up of railway carriages which some have been converted into sleeping cabins and a restaurant. Our cabin was cosy and was equipped with a en-suite, we really slept well even tho your next to a rail mail line. Breakfast was nice but basic unless you upgraded to a full English. You cannot knock the price
We met some friends there and we dined together each night. The only problem was all the meals were put on one bill as a table instead of by room. It got sorted on checkout but I feel it shouldn't have happened that way.
I would certainly recommend The Sidings though.
Lovely place, second visit and didn’t disappoint once again. Friendly attentive staff and lovely surroundings. Nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely return. Thanks.
Mould on walls of bedroom and in bathroom very disappointing when spoke to owner no compensation offered we were left shocked and frustrated. I did take photos of mould but don’t want to share at this time.
Lovely dining carriage, delicious meal. The bedroom was small and compact as expected in a converted railway carriage. Found the bed a bit of a struggle as it was against the wall. My husband and i are not spring chickens any more. Lovely hot shower.
Great people, amazing food the trains going past is great to see and you can really appreciate the power of them as they go by. Really enjoyed staying in the train its very compact.
