Great place to stay with historic feel and lots close by. Staff was cordial and helpful. Good breakfast offered. Bear in mind there is no elevator so luggage carrying is a but dicey if you have heavy bags.

Staff service was excellent. Breakfast buffet and menu was very good. Room size was comfortable. Area around Tavern was lively but the noise was not excessive and did not detract from sleeping. A gem of a place, and we have stayed in many but this was for the type of accomodation one of the best experiences we have had.

Room was clean, tidy, bed comfy nice extra touches of free lager and chocolates and coffee selection. Customer service was excellent, Kyle was excellent throughout helped with taking our luggage to our room, putting luggage in safe storage after checking out and arranged a taxi to the cruise terminal 10 out of 10 for customer service.

This was the experience I wanted in Southampton. The most incredible staff!!! The food was amazing. Eggs Benedict was the best I’ve ever had. Only drawback is no lift but it’s a 200 year old historic gem. I can’t wait to go back.

My son and I stayed for one night. Staff very friendly and helpful, lovely room, very clean and nicely decorated, complimentary tea/coffee and chocolates plus drinks in fridge were fantastic. The breakfast was lovely a great selection of options with a fabulous seating area again very clean and tidy with lovely decor and the staff couldn't have been any nicer. Will most definately stay here again, great location and close to central town.😁

True to its name, the White Star Tavern is an authentic, unpretentious English pub. Both the public areas and rooms are clean and well appointment providing an atmosphere reminiscent fabled cruise line. The hospitality was remarkable. Shortly after dropping off our bags, I settled into a chair in the lounge when the manager offered me tea and pastries and took a few moments to chat with me. Food was good with a reasonable variety and prices. I would definitely stay here again when in Southampton. Note: the only downside is no elevators so best to pack an overnight bag to carry up the stairs.

Loved the property but beware there are no elevators or lifts although the front desk did help with taking my luggage upstirs and i managed to bring it down. Quirky hotel but i love quirky.

I have had a metallic heart valve fitted 5 years ago. Unfortunately my room was on top floor and needed 40 steps to get to it. Jack, on Reception, was vert helpful and carried my rucksack. I suppose I should have asked for a room on a lower level when I booked it. Breakfast was delicious. Big choice and good. .

Superb breakfast included everything from hot eggs and toast to full English breakfast. Delightful staff very friendly and efficient. Comfortable room with all amenities. Full bar that locals visit in evenings. We made friends with several during our five days stay. Would recommend charming historic White Star Hotel for everyone. Had just the best time.

Amazing Stay at the White Star
This property is in a perfect location, close to many restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the cruise port, staff are excellent, rooms are nicely appointed, bar fridge has complimentary beer and water! Nice treat! Food is excellent especially the breakfasts! We will be staying here in future! Thank you White Star for making our trip special!!!

Really nice place to stay.
Really nice rooms, complimentary drinks and tea/coffee were good. Beakfast was great and came with the price of the room and parking nearby was cheap and easy to get to the hotel from.

A really lovely hotel. Staff were all great, room nice (showers excellent, comfy beds) and there were lots of nice touches (coffee machine, real milk for tea...). Breakfast was incredible. Location is very good - lots of nice dining options nearby if you dont want to 'eat in'. There is no parking however you can street park if you're just staying the night (parking is limited to 4 hours but overnight is free) - if your stay is longer then there is surface parking a block away and ocean village has a multi-storey car park.... highly recomended

Would not stay here again. But bathrooms are nice
This review is a little difficult to write because of the situation that brought us and other travelers here. There was a delay in boarding our cruise, so I booked two rooms here before they sold out. Almost immediately I received an email that there is no lift/elevator at the hotel, so please plan to pack an overnight bag and they would store our luggage in a secure location. That was fine with us. We arrived about an hour before check in time. They would not check us in early and said they could not take our luggage. Their luggage room was full already. So we had lunch with all our bags and went back in at 2:55 PM. Again the attendant said check in time was 3 PM. A little after 3 we were checked in and two young guys who worked there helped carry our luggage upstairs and we were told no guys would be working the next morning so getting our luggage back down would be our responsibility. I’m not sure I have to say anything further here. This is the way it is there. I am still waiting for them to send me a receipt for my payment, which I need in order to get reimbursed from the cruise line. I’m not holding my breath. The only plus here was the size of the bathrooms.

hi Jerry, you make it sound like we are all over the place but we are a very well oiled machine. it doesn't happen very often thank goodness but if your cruise is delayed it means we have 17 rooms, 4 bags for each person in every room which is 68 bags, then the cruise coming in which is another 17 rooms with 68 bags...can you imagine trying to organise that every single day? we cannot do any early check ins as we only have 4 hours to get all the rooms done every day, every single person in the building wants to check in early, and the boys are trying not to get injured with the incredibly heavy bags which are getting bigger and bigger every season. it says every where that we don't have a lift we are a listed building so we can't install one. i'm sorry you won't be returning as you are always welcome, kind regards, Bridget and the team.

This property was spot on in every category. The staff was amazing and most accommodating. The room was one of the cleanest properties we have ever stayed in. The breakfast was hot and delicious and service was excellent. We would definitely book again if we come back.

This hotel is a hidden gem in Southampton. Although it’s above a pub, it’s a lovely pub and there was absolutely no problem with noise. Perfectly located for a visit to Southampton city. The room was clean, comfy bed and enormous tv 😊 There was tea, coffee facilities including fresh milk in the fridge. The breakfast was delicious. Nothing to improve on for me.
