Nice hotel, but not too central. Decent rooms, good service. Only gripe is confusion, on my part probably, with Jin Jiang hotels: there are lots of them in China/Shanghai, so make sure you know where to tell the taxi driver to go, and don't just find 'the Jin Jiang' hotel on a map!!! Moreover, don't get confused when booking things. That said, it was a nice hotel, and getting the metro with a quick change of lines to get about is a) cheap (30 or 40 UK pence/trip!!), b) relatively hassle free, and c) a nice way to pretend to be a local for a day or three. Now that I'm back in UK, I really miss the tasty variety of / well-priced food in China as a whole. Two or three very good restaurants on-site at this place(apparently North Korean, Japanese and Fish) made eating-in nothing to feel guilty about. If you over eat, you can spend some money here (30 UKP/head) but that's excessive and it's pretty well-priced. Didn't go to the club, but frequented the lounge bar a couple of evenings, with girls singing. Except, for a change, the lounge singers were actually quite pleasant to listen to... Top floor bar has a good view, but the dim/blue lighting says it all. Probably would pick something more central, if a tourist. But if you can get a good deal on-line and can hack a 5 minute walk to the metro station and Shanghai's excellent, cheap, clean metro system, then it's a nice hotel with helpful staff.
