I liked the entry area with the wood. Seemed to do fairly well keeping smokers from just congregating in front. The front desk didn't have any sense of humor or warmth. I couldn't find the ice machine and I called down to the desk and they said it was on my floor (10th). It's not that big and I walked all around twice. I finally called again, and the person looked it up and said it was on the 9th floor. Why doesn't the staff know where things are in the building?

Staff was very unfriendly. In the morning, around 11am, we requested to have our room serviced with towels, etc. When we returned back to the room around 7pm, the room had still not been serviced. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone up immediately. Waited 45 minutes and still no towels. We then received a call from the front desk asking if anyone had came by. We told them no one had came and they said they would send someone else up. Waited another 30 minutes and no one came. Called down to the front desk and this time, the employee had an attitude with us, and disrespectfully put us on hold mid-sentence with no warning. Very confused as to why she had an attitude with us, as if we were the inconvenience, when we were the ones who had to wait over 8 hours for some towels. We eventually heard an overly loud, passive-aggressive knock on the door around 9pm. The only kind staff member we spoke to during our whole stay was the manager. The hotel had a great view and was very clean, but this was tainted by customer service.

The property is quite good. In general, the area around Madison Square Garden/Penn Station can be a bit dicey at night; nothing new there. No reflection on the property itself.
