Honeysuckle Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Constructed from the local mellow-hued Cotswold stone, Honeysuckle Cottage forms part of a peaceful terrace of cottages, that was once home to farmworkers. To the front of the cottage are hedge-lined fields and to the rear, far-reaching views of the Cotswolds. This is an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and it's not uncommon to see herds of deer in the field beyond the rear garden, as well as birds of prey in the skies above.
Honeysuckle is a traditional stone cottage that is filled with character and charm and retains many original features including fabulous deep-set stone mullioned windows with window seats, stone fireplaces, and exposed stone walls. Its elevated location means it has been built over three levels. You enter on the ground floor into an inviting, light-filled living room with a wood-burning stove, the bathroom is also on this floor. Down on the lower ground floor, you'll find a cosy dining room with the original flagstone floor and a well-equipped kitchen. There is also a door to the rear garden.
The views from the rear of Honeysuckle are just wonderful and the pretty rear garden is filled with roses, shrubs and plants and laid to decking. This steps gradually down to a seating area with a four-seater table at the end. The field beyond the garden often plays host to a herd of deer and the sound of birdsong fills the air.
Ground Floor
Living Room: As you step through the front door you are greeted by a warm and cosy living room with exposed stone walls and a wood-burning stove. A pair of comfy two-seater sofas with cushions and throws provide ample seating for four guests. The wall-mounted Smart TV has a built-in DVD player and the wooden door behind the TV holds plenty of board games and DVDs for fun evenings in. The traditional deep-set stone window and cushioned window seat have been retained and remain as a beautiful original feature. There's also a wooden bookcase packed with novels and non-fiction books along with plenty of maps and guidebooks to help you make the most of your time in the Cotswolds.
Bathroom / Shower Room: The compact family bathroom has a roll-top bath with rainfall shower over and is fully tiled. The Victorian-style suite has a traditional high-level cistern with a pull flush and handbasin, there's also a shaver point. The bathroom window looks out over the wonderful views to the rear, this is most definitely a loo with a view!
Lower Ground Floor
From the living room, there is a staircase to the lower ground floor with access to the rear garden, dining room and kitchen.
Dining Room: The character-filled dining room lends itself perfectly to leisurely meals and cosy, sociable evenings. On the floor are the original flagstones and there's a huge stone feature fireplace (not in use) along with a window and window seat that looks out to the rear garden. The wooden dining table seats four comfortably, and there's also a wooden console table and a sizeable wine rack, but you will need to bring your own wine! The understairs storage cupboard houses the cordless vacuum cleaner, washing machine.
Kitchen: Beyond the dining room is the compact but well-equipped kitchen. Pale wood-effect cupboards contrast beautifully with the midnight blue tiles, and you'll find plenty of crockery, dishes and pot and pans, everything in fact that you need for a self-catering holiday including a slimline dishwasher. Although the kitchen is on the lower ground floor there is a sun tube that lets natural daylight in.
First Floor
From the ground floor, there are stairs to the first floor.
Bedroom One: This spacious, airy bedroom is at the front of the cottage and features a king-sized bed (can be made up as twin beds on request), bedside tables with reading lamps and plenty of clothes storage with a chest of drawers and a wardrobe.
Bedroom Two: This pretty bedroom has wonderful far-reaching views over the countryside to the rear of the cottage. There's a wooden king-size bed with bedside tables and reading lamps on either side. This room is cosy and characterful with the bedroom wall revealing the original cottage beams.
Outside
The rear of Honeysuckle Cottage is laid to decking and filled with beautiful mature planting and shrubs, there's a fabulous bush fuchsia and a rambling rose climbs over the backdoor. The decking steps gently down to a seating area at the end with a table and four chairs and the most wonderful rural views. Linger with your morning coffee and watch the herd of deer in the field beyond, enjoy al fresco dining or peaceful evening drinks as the sky overhead fills with stars.

My daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights. We were so pleased with everything. The cottage is really cosy and the kitchen is very well equipped.
All of the places we wanted to visit were easily reached. Blockley is a very pretty village off the beaten track.

Great location. However the property is a little tired and needs updating. Grouting in the bathroom and kitchen needs redoing. One of the fittings to the toilet cistern needs fixing. Carpets need cleaning or replacing. The decor is a little confused with ultra modern radiators and then vintage bathroom fittings and furniture. The kitchen units are getting very old and don't open very well.
The property does not live up to the pictures on the website and is expensive for the poor quality accommodation .

Lovely cottage with fabulous views. The deer that visited the field at the bottom of the garden was an added bonus!
All in all a lovely cottage. The weather was very warm and sunny, sadly the absence of a garden parasol meant we weren’t able to enjoy sitting out in the garden as much as we would have liked. I think as with all other cottages we have stayed in a garden parasol is something that would be very much appreciated, particularly during the summer. Perhaps this is something which could be considered for future guests?

Very beautifully appointed cottage in a lovely village with wonderful shop, pub and cafe. Scenic views and walks. Close to lots of interesting villages and sites.
The hot water for the bath could be hotter. Such a lovely bathroom but tepid baths. Kitchen super well equipped and the cottage is just so comfortable, cosy and quiet. Shocked to find no mattress cover when I stripped the bed on leaving. Cleaning staff came the day before but my key in the lock meant they knew I was still there. They left the key safe open and with the number unchanged so I think everyone who passed must know it. Maybe time to change it?
Thank you to the owners for sharing their lovely cottage and I hope to come again. Everyone in Blockley so friendly!

Honeysuckle Cottage in Blockley could not have met our hopes and expectations more.
The village and the proximity of Honeysuckle Cottage to the heart of the town, Blockley Cafe and store, was perfect.
We loved being away from all the tourist madness. The locals were so kind and friendly.
The breathtaking views from the back of the house overlooking the sheep pasture hills, the resting deer below the house and the golden cottages in a distance were so beautiful and captured the essence of the Cotswolds. A visiting black cat greeted me on the patio overlooking all this. The garden was delightful.
A current list of taxis or hired cars would be helpful. The Coop employees provided one and assisted us. A real simplifed map of the town would be nice, too.
The owners and staff were very responsive to our needs making the stay perfect.
My only regret is that we could not stay longer.

Our stay at Honeysuckle Cottage was for two nights.
The location of the Honeysuckle Cottage is perfect and the accommodation is cosy and well presented.
The kitchen and dining facilities were super and well equipped.
However, the front bedroom had been designated as a King Room, but was made up as two single beds! And unless otherwise requested, this should not have been the case and a king bed expected. The Cottage should be presented as marketed.
The carpets in the Cottage could be cleaner or even changed, the owners should certainly revisit this.
The rear bedroom has no clothes storage options, so be prepared to improvise.
Sadly, there was also insufficient toilet paper, and none could be found anywhere e.g. washing machine storage, kitchen, bathroom etc.
On the whole we enjoyed our stay at Honeysuckle but with some caveats.

Blockley is a beautiful place to stay, the house was absolutely gorgeous we unfortunately had a crappy start to our two night stay. The house had not been cleaned since the previous people had left, everything was in a state, beds obviously un-made with all the dirty laundry piled up in the doorways, kitchen and bathroom needing a good clean. Not what you’re expecting when driving for hours, especially with a 4pm check in. Lots of back and fourth phone calls with the housekeepers for added stress. Eventually sorted by 7.30pm, not a great start.
However the house had everything we needed and incredible views, overpriced though so would not return.

The Honeysuckle Cottage is a classic Cotswolds cottage and was exactly what we were hoping for-tidy, well appointed, with a great views and walkability in the small village. It is centrally located in the area, and we had an easy time getting around. The wood burning stove is cozy and the living areas are comfortable. Wood, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were provided. Bed was warm and comfortable and had a wonderful view of the back garden and fields. It was a lovely and relaxing stay.

Lingering terrible musty smell in every room
No dog facilities, towels, outdoor hose, no access direct to rear of property so if you've been on a long, wet, muddy walk, you have to go through the lounge (with beige carpet) to get to downstairs kitchen and outdoor rear area .... not ideal
No private parking but parking on road was ok, rear is decked and overgrown
Very small overall with low level ceilings on stairs, very narrow stairs to upper floor.
Sofas and carpets could do with a good clean.
Toilet seat clashes with large bathroom cabinet.

We loved our time in Blockley. Plenty to do around the area. The early check out and late check in times were a shame - for the amount paid it does not seem right to lose half a day (especially when you are asked to do your own cleaning). But all in all a great experience with spot on recommendations, and lots of well thought out touches. Thank you.

Honeysuckle Cottage is little treasure and highly recommended. Neat tidy, very comfortable, incredible views, we appreciated the attention to detail. Great location and brilliant for a weekend stay. Thanks so much.

Lovely cottage – lots of character features but also warm and cosy for a winter's stay, especially with the woodburning stove (only had four sticks of kindling provided though so maybe worth taking your own as quite pricey from the local shop). Comfortable beds and two good sized double rooms. Kitchen well equipped (though some of the utensils/pans did need a clean) and a good selection of books/local info to browse. Great location on the edge of Blockley – with lovely views out the back (and a nice terrace for summer) which has a decent sized shop and cafe as well as a couple of pubs around 5 mins walk away. Altogether would recommend.

We had a wonderful time at Honeysuckle Cottage. It was spotless, lovely and well equipped. Views are gorgeous - including stags in the field behind early in the morning. Location is great. All communication easy and helpful.
I think we all wished we could stay longer / move in!!

We stayed at Honeysuckle cottage for four nights. The cottage was spotless when we arrived and we appreciated the milk and other essentials that were provided. The log burner fireplace was a lovely touch and was great to sit in front of after the trip to the local pub (do try to the Blockley café for both evening and breakfast, it is great!). We had enough wood for a couple of days, though if you run out the local supermarkets sells it. The views are fantastic with roaming dear on the back. The rooms are good size and the beds comfy. You also have a decent sized garden though we didn't use it given it was early Feb. In regards local walks, there are plenty, and you can easily drive to local villages. We didn't have an issue parking, on road, though it was quiet with generally plenty of spaces. We'd definitely stay here again one day in the future.
