We bought the modern farmhouse about 20 years ago when it wasn't so modern. Over the years, we've built fences, added walls and taken a few down. Most recently, we remodeled the whole place inside and out. The house is bright, roomy and comfortable with mountain views out every window. We got married in the pasture out back, our daughter was born here and we’ve always found a bit of magic in this place. We hope you'll find that magic too!
Specifics: Bedrooms The modern farmhouse has two bedrooms. The first is downstairs and has two cozy and comfortable single beds. This room has views of an old rock barn with mountains beyond. The second bedroom is upstairs with a memory foam queen bed with views of the hills in the distance, tall evergreen trees and a 100-year-old lilac tree. There are two additional sleeping spaces one in the main living room on the ground floor and one in the upstairs den. Other spaces: The living room is bright and comfortable with two arm chairs and an L-shaped couch. This couch pulls out into a full bed to accommodate extra guests. The dining room features a handmade table with seating for eight and views of Graywolf Peak. The kitchen is gloriously big with big windows, stainless modern appliances and a cafe table for two perfect for morning coffee or evening wine. There is one bathroom with a shower/tub combination, a low-flow toilet and two vanities with sinks and mirrors. Upstairs, there is a den with another fold out couch, books, books and more books, and a flatscreen Roku TV. Outside and facing one of the prettiest views around, our back deck has a patio table with chairs for outdoor dining and other chairs to sit, relax and enjoy the view.
A note on dogs: We love dogs. We own two poorly behaved puppies but when we bring them to the Modern Farmhouse we either keep them leashed or under flawless, strict voice command. We ask you to do the same for the safety of our neighbors’ livestock and for the safety of your dogs. It’s actually legal for a rancher to shoot a dog that’s chasing his or her cows. Harsh but a true fact of the rural west.

A note on place: Arlee, Montana sits on the Flathead Indian Reservation. It's a small western town with a mix of cultures and a serious high school basketball dynasty. American Indians, ranchers, Buddhists, hippies and some folks who fit in all of the above categories – some none -- live here and a few folks like us live here because we think it's pretty. In this valley you’ll find human complexity in all its grandeur! Arlee Wilson’s, downtown on Highway 93 North, is a gas station/small grocery store.
