The good: 1. Great position on the front near all attractions. 2. Very clean, in fact spotless, particularly for an old building. 3. Spacious triple room (took grand-daughter). 4. Had a bath, which most rooms do not have. 5. Some parking, although only for 4 cars at front and a couple at back. 6. Comfy soft beds which are quite rare these days. The not so good: 1. Unlucky to have the triple room in the eves so, although it had a shower in the bath, you had to kneel to get any sort of shower. 2. Breakfast a big disappointment. Expect full English but only serving toast, bacon butties, cereals and yogurt. Not sure what other hotels there are serving but expect better for price. 3. Bar closes at 10pm. Other hotels on same row open until 11pm. Who wants to go to bed at 10pm on holiday! so went elsewhere. You'd think in these strange times they would want to maximise profit on drinks.

Night away at Seafront location hotel
Room looked like it had recently been refurbished. Which was to a good standard. Bed comfortable.. Modern new shower. Just lacked hanging space and shelving for items in the bathroom. Buffet breakfast included. Great price for seafront location and food was very good.

We have stayed there several times previously and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this time there was building work taking place and we had to move out of the room we were allocated because of water seeping through from the floor above. The room we were then given was on the top floor and the heating seemed to struggle to reach it, so the first night was quite chilly. However, without being asked, the manager placed an electric heater in the room the following day while we were out - very thoughtful! - so the second night was fine. The staff are very helpful and did their best to make our stay comfortable.

A reasonable hotel on the seafront.
The Carlton offers a reasonable value hotel located on the sea front. Whilst parking on site is limited to only 4 spaces there is ample on free street parking along the seafront. The Double room was adequate and breakfast available from 8 am in the basement.

The staff are always pleasant and welcoming. The breakfast is very good. The room was a bit dated and both bedroom and bathroom could use some tlc. The sea view was wonderful. Just across the road there is a play park ,putting and mini golf greens, a couple of restaurants and a very well priced cinema. The ornamental gardens are a pleasant way to walk the short distance to the pier.

Good hotel with a great location and easy to find. Limited parking within the property although space available for parking nearby. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Room was good with ensuite, very clean. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Would definitely stay again and recommend the hotel to others

Stayed here lots of times before ut never in this room and not been able to fault it but this time just a couple of gripes the first being the smell of the bathroom and the 2nd was the wind/draught making doors rattle I put screwed up paper under ours to stop it but a door close to our room was rattling non stop all through the night making it hard for me to get to sleep then waking mid night hearing it.

We only stayed one night. Some of the furniture had been painted and there was still the smell of paint fumes. Attention to some detail in cleaning like the kettle lid looked dirty and light switches needed a wipe over. The lamp shade full of dust. The lights over the bed when switched on were so bright. All things that can be fixed easily. On the plus side breakfast was good staff were great nice area to sit on veranda and nice bar.

A lovely stay at Carlton Hotel..
Fantastic location. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Price for room only was very reasonable. Furniture was dated and tired. Bathroom was dated and tired. Bedding and towels were fresh and clean. Breakfast was nice and worth the price. I would recommend and I would stay there again. Loved having a sea view. Limited parking space in the hotel carpark. But spaces could be found along the road.
