Gorgeous traditional Ryoken. Problem at check-in almost ruined it but we worked it out. You check in and receive a cotton kimono, toe socks and slippers. Everyone floats around like it’s ancient Japan. The rooms are lovely and spacious for Japan. The onsen is like an excellent spa! Hot pools indoor and outside in a small garden, waterfall-massage, steam room, dry sauna, cold plunge. Luxurious bath products and complimentary ice cream bars at the end. It’s transformational. However, they were very difficult when o tried to bring my adult daughter when I had already reserved a double room but only for 1. They charged me an extra $95 for almost nothing extra. If I had reserved for 2 people originally through Expedia the upcharge was more like $20. I was bummed, but then the experience was wonderful so I forgave them. My experience explains the several bad reviews here. Seems they were all about a billing matter. The place seems so spiritual, but they have a very strong profit motive.

Very conveniently located next to the Arashiyama Hankyu Railway station. We enjoyed the private bath experience but were disappointed the water jets could not be turned on. Experiencing the Japanese meals was part of the experience.

This was such a special place to stay. We were looking for a relaxing spot to end our trip to Kyoto, and this was exceptional. The food and baths were especially lovely. It’s also walking distance from the monkey forest, which was so fun!

Probably the least friendly staff of every place I stayed in Japan. Not to say they were not nice, but fell extremely short in comparison the rest of my travels. The pools all smelt heavily chlorinated and dried out the skin. Be sure to bring a lot of lotion, as it’ll dry out your skin pretty badly. The food was good. The area was nice.

My friends and I loved our stay at Kadensho Arashiyama Onsen! The place was very clean and it’s surroundings were very beautiful. It’s right across Arashiyama station which made it very convenient with all our bags. Because my friends have tattoos, we all only tried the private baths and even though there is a wait if the baths were used, it was worth it. Very relaxing, and would definitely stay again.

This place is one of the more expensive places to stay, but the service, including an accommodation tax which I have never paid in Kyoto or other parts of Japan on this trip, except here, were not acceptable. The food was also the worst in terms of what we paid for and what we received. Will NEVER return and will WARN OTHERS NOT to book this place. Money grabbing place. Worst of the places to stay in our 20 days in Japan!

We traveled as a group of marathon training group of women and their husbands, so we had 9 people in our group. Everyone loved this ryokan. It had great amenities and a very nice group of onsets. Yushoku dinner kaiseki option was very good and the choshoku breakfast very good as well

Hotel is easily accessible as its just right outside the Metro Station. Dinner provided was also great! Breakfast buffet was such a spread with food that are mainly emphasizing on Japan culture! Private Onsen are also available just that you may have to queue up for it during peak hours. There are 5 different onsen settings, which leaves you no choice but to try all the different settings! Will definitely return for a second time to this ryokan!

Was a very long way from JR ststion and Expedia map not accurate. Service at front desk was terrible- treated us like Gaijin- insensitive we’re fine but had to wait more than 20 min to get in- rooms needed updating badly- our toilet room looked like a squirrel had scratched the inside of the door. Very overpriced for the condition and service of the hotel- breakfast challenging without knowledge of traditional Japanese food- was the worst experience of our trip to Japan

The staff make the check in experience smooth. The baths are lovely, and the meals provide a great convenient cultural experience. I would recommend this place for those who are staying at a ryokan for the first time - great intro to Japanese hotel styles. Great location!

Beautiful
This Ryokan is absolutely beautiful. The facilities are beyond expectations, and the traditional Japanese feel of the Ryokan was an amazing experience. As a Westerner, there was a fair language barrier between staff whom spoke basic English, however the staff were friendly, accomodating and helpful in every way possible. I fully recommend this Ryokan for an unforgettable experience!

It’s such a lovely place to stay! I will def go back to stay again. 5 private baths are easy to use, also their public bath has every amenities and even amazing body scrubs. Service is beyond any of accommodations I have ever stayed!

The room appeared a bit dated and damaged. It was packed with tourists from neighboring countries who lack manners, I wish there were more staff who speak other languages to tell them about the rules. The private baths were awesome but again not in the best condition. The entrance/reception area is fairly small and often very crowded. Food was OK but can be better. It was a nice experience but we will not come back. There are many other onsen hotels with better price and condition.

One of the major reasons to stay at an onsen was to enjoy the services and half-board Japanese meals, but the kaiseki at the hotel was not very good at all, it does have enough in quality but the quality was lacking, especially the tempura, it was the worst we have ever had. The dinner could only be called a Japanese meal, but not a Kaiseki - so overall it was overpriced. Re services, it was more like a hotel than a traditional onsen, so besides check-in/ check-out, there was no services at all. No one to show us to our room as most Onsen would have. A server was assigned to give us our dinner, but again, it was like a normal restaurant service rather than like a kaiseki, that the server will explain every dish (wether or not you understand Japanese or not). And the whole dinner experience was very rushed, next dish often arrived before we have finished the last one. Breakfast was semi-buffet and we had to wait for 15min for a table because the hotel was very full. Overall, will not recommend it. Either book somewhere nicer or just don't bother with staying at an onsen.

This is one of the best onsen hotel I ever stayed. Apart from the public onsen spa, there are 5 other private spa of various size for the resident to choose. No booking is required. First come first served. The dinner is very attractive with many varieties. I particularly liked the staff named Tanaka Shou whose service was exemplary. I will definitely stay again during my next visit to this area.

A modern Japanese style Ryokan. It was nice that you can choose your favourite Yukata to wear during your stay. Onsen was great. Room was clean and comfy. Strongly recommend to include dinner as most local restaurants are closed for dinner. (Not sure if it was the case due to Covid)

第一次入住嵐生花傳抄
第一次入住花傳抄，剛好遇上日本連假，旅客雖多但亦守禮，沒有遇到奧客，幸好溫泉餐廳也不算太多人。門口年長者十分禮貌，前枱較哥男員工服務超級周到，由於房間洗手位置漏水，即刻替我們維修，免我們奔波換房，值得一讚，相反晚飯餐廳女服務人員面上總是不耐煩，可能太累或者經常遇上麻煩客人，對不是說日文客人不算友善，可幸家中年長者沒有感到不悅，免得難得的家庭聚會留下不好印象
