Aloha & thank you for taking the time to write your review and I thoroughly understand your comments. I do make myself available for each of our guests. Ordinarily all it takes is a phone call, a text, or an email and anything you might have needed would have been replenished. I suspect you were not used to that type of response because I never received a request or notification. We would even changed out the linens & bedding if that would have made you more comfortable. As a rule, any stays of 14 days and longer we require a mid-stay swap of all linens & bedding and a quick cleaning of the bathroom & glass surfaces. Since we are still aware of Covid, we only supply 1 set of linens for each individual staying at the home. Even if it were not used Everything Must be cleaned & sanitized plus All paper goods used up or not are disposed of. Power on our small island is one of our most costly utilities with fresh water being a close 2nd so cleaning things just for the sake of cleaning is rather wasteful. We also prepare our home with some of the more costly White linens & bedding (1000 thread Egyptian Cotton) which we would really rather clean ourselves. A small stain from Kauai’s red dirt & set in with the dryer will ruin them & make them unusable for any other guests. I won’t do grunge! That’s why we changed to providing each guest with their own loofah sponges to shower with. We could not keep wash cloths clean enough. Yes, October can be one of our more humid months. It is getting toward the end of hurricane season and we get hit with weather patterns that cut off our trade winds. Unfortunately you were here when we lost our “Trades”. It is not always this way. I will specifically look at the mattress & if there’s an issue with it, I will order a replacement. It is one that is on the softer side. On your next stay, please give us an opportunity to solve any shortcoming, everyone sharing their homes with others have different ideas of setting up their homes it is difficult to meet everyone’s expectations. It’s not that we are stingy, we don’t want to be too wasteful. Mahalo! - Chris

We thank you for making the choice to stay with us during your trip to Kauai. I am disappointed that it seems you did not enjoy your stay more and that you were unable to rate your stay higher. - Our home was not built to accommodate a central air conditioning system. It has though gone through major renovations upgrading the bathroom, kitchen and main living area as well as being newly decorated not too long ago, there are ceiling fans in each room as well as portable fans that can be used to help with cooling the space. Other than the Lazy-Boy Sofa bed the other furniture is classic Hawaiian. - I agree with not leaving the sliding door open during the night in order to be safe, but I do feel comfortable leaving the crank-out windows open enough to let air in but to a point that a person could not easily enter. Ordinarily the trade winds blow & the space is quite comfortable. - Unfortunately, a short time ago our refrigerator’s water pumps for the ice maker and water dispenser malfunctioned and failed. We have had appliance repairmen over to try to repair the issue but they have had to order parts from the mainland to repair the problem. In the meantime, I purchased and left a filtered water pitcher & ice trays that are in the refrigerator & freezer to help ensure that cold filtered water to drink is available as well as having ice. Instead of waiting for repairs to be done we have ordered a new refrigerator to be installed 3/1 - I understand that the decorating of a home and the spaces do not always fit everyone’s taste. I agree, the draperies in the bedroom are somewhat sheer. There was a discussion about this choice before they were installed. Ultimately, they were decided upon because the view of the bedroom window was behind flowering shrubbery from ground to near ceiling height and that there should be no others traveling on the sidewalk because it is past all other units & only leads to our front door. The advantages of being a thinner material leads to breezes flowing through from the open window more easily than a thicker material. During the daylight hours you can see the flowering shrubbery more easily and seems more appealing. - Although we did share a couple of emails where the guest asked about our affiliations with the local Gym and another letting me know they had run out of bags for the waste basket, I was not made aware of any smells coming from under the kitchen sink. - As I now know, 4 days past check-out through a posting of this review, there might be an issue in our home. I have someone going by to check this issue out and to resolve. It is always priority for me to follow-up with our guests and to resolve any issue that may arise with the utmost importance & with as much haste as possible. It’s our home for goodness sake!

Aloha Alix & Family, We would like to thank you all for allowing us to be the hosts of your stay while you were here in Kauai. I also thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us and your experience while here. We will definitely look into avenues making it easier for all to use the electronics (DVR, etc). As an FYI, We have already submitted for approval from the Homeowners Association to replace the Lanai Furniture, making it easier for the family to enjoy meals on the Lanai.
