Quite far from train station, about 15 mins walk. Quiet inconvenient location, no dining options except few options at station vicinity. But have 2 convenience stores nearby. Staff - not all of them friendly or warm. Room comfortable, spacious but sofa bed ( triple room booking) was terribly hard & uncomfortable- basically just a wooden frame with a thin tatami.

Repeat stay - Great hotel
This the second time staying in this hotel as the environment is good. It is not too far from the train station and there is a family mart just beside the hotel. There is even shuttle bus service from hotel to train station and ski resort. The hotel staff are friendly, helpful and supportive.

It takes about 8-10 minutes to walk from the hotel to Shopping Plaza. Staff is courteous and helpful.

A super comfy room a few minutes walk from the station with free basic breakfast. It’s about a 30 min walk to Ginza Dori. Only two small complaints would be; 1. so much light in the room of a night… between the LED lights on the air con unit, the humidifier machine and the smoke detectors it was a bit of a light show. 2. Advertised check in time is 3pm. I arrived at 2.40pm and they literally made me sit in the foyer to exactly 3pm on the dot even though I could see no evidence that rooms were still being cleaned.. Seemed they were making me wait to the absolute second for no reason other than because they could. After 6 hours of travelling I really didn’t appreciate the rigidity of their check in time.

Overall, the hotel is clean, quite spacious and quiet. Hotel staff are also very helpful when we need to ask them to keep our luggage when we checked out. I would recommend this hotel. The only setback is that it is not so near the Karuizawa station but still within walking distance of about 5 to10 mins.

It’s a cute boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood. It’s about 10-min walk from Karuizawa Station & about 20-min to the old Karuizawa Ginza street. Very easy to find, & a convenience shop is around the corner open till 11pm. A few small restaurants are nearby as well.

Thanks for the complimentary breakfast and the comfortable beds. Had a good night rest before heading for our alpine route journey. Room is spacious and very clean. Highly recommended if you want to stay at Kairuzawa!

Convenient location, spacious room
Hotel is a few minutes away from train station. The room we booked was spacious with a separate tatami sitting area. Japanese style bath and toilet. Room is clean. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was simple salad, bread, eggs and curry.

Lovely little property tucked off the main road. Clean, good front service, nice spacious room. My view faced out into the parking lot though so not much to see there. Unfortunately I didn't rent a car or bike and had to walk about 15 minutes to the nearest bus stop or train station. food options surrounding were limited.

Clean and modern. Very organized from check in, parking, breakfast etc. minimum facilities: no fitness room, no onsen, no restaurant. Room layout was not functional: difficult to use room space even though the room was of decent size. Breakfast was very barebones. Coin-operated laundry was a big plus for us. Would recommend if only for an overnight stay.

I like the halloween decorations, makes it feel like a homely place. I did not like the breakfast. Although it was free, the room was not cheap and the breakfast was pretty poor. We decided not to eat it on the second morning.

Great location and service for English Speakers
I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Rosso. It's a quick 7min walk from the station. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was fairly large, compared to other Japanese hotels. Everything was clean and fairly new. I got a few maps and recommendations on places to visit and to eat from the concierge. You can rent bicycles from the hotel for a small fee (first come first serve). The main shopping street is about a 15min bike ride from the hotel. The outlet mall is about a 5min ride (just south of the freeway). The hotel is also located behind a Lawsons which came in handy for late night snacks and drinks. The only downside was the breakfast. It's all you can eat but there isn't much of a variety (curry, salad, an egg, and bread). It's good if you're in a rush but there are plenty of cafes nearby if you want a more hardy breakfast.

The hotel provides shuttle service to Karuizawa train station. Our twin room is spacious and lovely. Lawson is just around the corner. The shopping Center is only a few minute walk from the hotel.

Staff are exceptionally attentive. Bear in mind that this is hard to match since almost every Japanese hotel we’ve been too we’ve had very friendly staff. But this hotel’s staff came out to help us with our luggage. When I forgot to bring my keys out of the room, the staff also offered to take it from my room for me so I could go ahead with my dinner plans. Room is also beautifully decorated and just enough to be spacious for two of us. Breakfast offered was pumpkin and matcha bread, rice with beef curry stew and salad. Dutch coffee was flavourful. Conveniently located at Karuizawa station and within walking distance to the huge shopping mall where you can shop all day. Highly recommended!

Nice hotel with great staff.
Great hotel tucked away. Walking along the road leading to the hotel are plenty of restaurants. The shuttle service makes travel between hotel and station so easy. Nature is just minutes’ walk from hotel. It’s a good balance.

Pros: clean, well-maintained building and away from the main road (the hotel soundproof is quite poor so being away from the main road helped a little with the noise). Cons: just a very basic hotel, nothing too bad about it except for the sound at night due to the poor soundproof walls/door. Breakfast provided wasn’t fantastic but since it’s free you can’t be fussy about it. I had it for once and end up have to go out to hunt for food again.
