really lovely place to stay, i loved the contactless check in and out. the room and kitchen where decorated beautifully and clean, had everything one would need. also it’s just up the hill from the town and trails, so a lovely walk. the only thing i would ask would be a deadbolt on the front door for added safety as the bottom lock isn’t for locking. but over all would highly recommend

We stayed in the upstairs apartment in the Carriage House. It was really quaint and cozy. Everything was clean, the hosts were thoughtful, had everything set up for, and were easy to communicate with even as they respected our privacy. Lovely place to chill in the evening, and if you're looking to see Harper's Ferry and/or hike the many trails in the area, you can't beat the location. Would gladly stay again.

Cozy and convenient in Harper's Ferry
What a great, cozy place to stay in Harper's Ferry. Our suite was spacious with a very practical kitchen. The hotel staff took our breakfast order and had it waiting in the room for us when we arrived. The yard has a nice swing which we used in the evening. This place is walking distance from Harper's Ferry lower town; however, walking back is uphill so take that into consideration if you're walking into the history area. I would recommend this place to friends and would definitely stay there again.

Disappointing
We booked our 4 night stay 6 months in advance for a wedding. The property was not as reviewed-manager stated it was shabby chic. Shoddy workmanship, worn linens-towels & sheets & basically converted old garage. Very apologetic that check-in info not sent as promised, so no way to enter property-after 20 mins waiting in car on dark, cold night with light rain & prolonged travel from Europe finally given access. No full length mirror, no closet or hangers for 3 hooks on wall & cramped with old furniture and hardly any space to move around. Food left in fridge as promised was only positive feature of this property. Price way too much for what was provided. They did offer a future free stay, but as we live on west coast and we’re only here for wedding not realistic! Would not have booked this if reviews had been realistic!!!

We're a tiny family run business and offer these two suites for the location and access to this historic village. This location does not generate sufficient income for a full-time staff member. The situation described was a very uncommon experience with a guest. The booking platform did not complete delivery of the arrival information. We are now in the process of disconnecting some booking platform because of poor customer experience. The suites are designed for a historical look and feel, fitting to the village and cultural heritage. We are always available and we do everything we possibly, humanly can to ensure our guests have a great time.Since rescuing this historic property from falling into complete decay, we have been making very steady upgrades after completing a laundry list of repairs. Historic levels of inflation and the labor shortage caused by the opioid epidemic have created significant pressures on many rural businesses. At present, we are preparing for a major historic rehabilitation of the adjacent armory house with vital assistance to save these historical treasures. Further, had we known, we gladly address any problems that were raised. We much prefer to provide a happy experience if we are allowed to. Also, we strongly encourage guests staying who are arriving from an International flight or staying more than 2 nights, to please consider our larger suite. It's much more roomy! We love welcoming wonderful guests from many places. But we may eventually decide to close because it is too costly in time and money to make these two suites available. We certainly don't do it for the money. Please don't ruin this for us. We offer the suites because we want others to explore and love this area. Most people don't understand the sheer costs of bookings, cleaning, food, upkeep, and maintenance. Just ask if you want to know what it's really like! We're working about 100 hours per week in our other careers and professional commitments. This is a phenomenal village with so much history and natural wonders. We hope that you will want to enjoy your time in Harpers Ferry. A vast majority of our guests do! Peace be with you.

Wonderful suite while visiting Harpers Ferry
Great space and location (about 0.5 miles from lower historic HF, easy access to Appalachian trail, quiet (no train horns), other sights). The carriage suite was very comfortable; we really liked the bed. The suite comes with a full kitchen which is great, if you plan to stay for a few days. The outdoor space was also nice with a relaxing pond right in front of the porch. My only two recommendations: include a regular coffee maker/grinder and hot breakfast option - we read that they used to have a local restaurant deliver hot breakfast, which would’ve been a nice option.

Dear guests, since the pandemic, and now inflation, we offer a hand-picked menu of breakfast foods to select from that are provided for you. However, we no longer offer breakfast delivery as a general practice. We always ask our guests for breakfast selections and any special breakfast requests, the week before arrival. We are happy to comply -- when asked -- to the best of our abilities! We offer these suites to welcome guests to this historical location and help pay for the preservation work at the adjacent historical house. We do not have full time staff here to cook. Please remember this is a country village without all the convenience of a city. If you are looking for a traditional B&B, there are a few of those still open in the village that do! Best regards, Shawn

We stayed in the Trundle Suite. Absolutely adorable! The only slight inconvenience was the heating. A space heater is provided but I have a quirky attitude towards space heaters. That’s a me issue!

Hi Rae, thanks for the accolades! There's actually a baseboard heater in the suite too. We use the modular one for extra comfort. Plus, we're working on the next stages of modernization, with a high efficiency heat pump to do our part to get to Net Zero Carbon Goals. We've been diligently endeavoring through a multi-phase process of modernization and rehabilitation of the historic property, Armory House 24!

Amazing property!
I really don't think I have enough superlatives to describe the suite. We stayed two nights in Harpers Ferry in the 'Carriage House Suite.' The owners communicated with us early on and, because of the pandemic restrictions, they provided us with the ingredients to make our own breakfast. The suite (really, an incredibly comfortable one bedroom apartment with a second bed on a loft atop a sturdy iron ladder suitable for kids) had an extremely well equipped kitchen, so we made our own breakfasts in the morning. The sitting area was large with a separate dining area--I've been a guest at a friend's apartment which was smaller. And the bedroom was the darkest I have ever experienced in my life; dark rooms used for developing film don't come darker. All in all it was an amazing property, one we will definitely return to if we ever go by Harpers Ferry again.

Lovely place for a romantic weekend!
My wife and I loved our stay here! The regularly scheduled breakfast delivery to our suite was an awesome free perk, and for the one morning when that wasn’t an option, Shawn, who is a great B&B host, prepared and delivered a custom-made breakfast the night before. The carriage house suite itself is lovely with eclectic old-fashioned decorations and is well-equipped with a full kitchen. The place is also easily walkable to Jefferson Rock and the main tourist sites in town. We’d stay here again!

Not your average B&B
A different experience. We didn't speak to a single person on the property during our 2 night stay. Breakfast is served by a diner a mile down the road that you can have delivered or go to to eat. We decided to eat at the diner. Food was good, room was nice.

Hey folks! Most people like the arrangement and privacy. I was looking for you all, but you were out late and arrived late. We're not always right at hand but we are always available by call or text. We also always contact guests before their arrival as well. This is a country village and we do everything we can to make the best available. Our rustic cottage brings in proceeds only to afford upkeep on the historic home and property. We'd love to be able to hire staff one day but this is all we have to offer! By in sourcing breakfast at the cafe we're able to help a local, women-owned business stay in business. Seasonal tourism livelihood is tough for many merchants. We would have loved to speak with you! Kind regards, Shawn

This is a great place to stay! Shawn is very attentive, helpful & polite. We had a delicious breakfast delivered every morning. If you sit out back during the evening you can enjoy the sound of the fountain at the little pond! There was a bullfrog there when we visited which made the experience even more relaxing. Great location, and very comfortable room, very spaces. The loft should be considered for young people only, but it was not an issue on our trip. I would have loved to see the garden in bloom, very pleased with the stay. The breakfast provisions is actually with a local Café, they will deliver or you can dine in, the food was excellent and the service just as good. They even have fresh mini donuts on the weekends.

Dear guest, our housekeepers are meticulous about cleaning our Trundle Suite. What you may have seen are slight discolorations that have to do with repair work that was done by the previous management. We encourage feedback during your stay so that we can ameliorate anything if anything comes up. We are 110% attentive to our facility, and welcome an opportunity to talk about the history of our place.

Great Location, Friendly Owners
My boyfriend and I absolutely LOVED our stay at Lily Garden. The owner is so amazingly friendly, the suite is very cozy and adorable and the location is just off the main strip of Harper's Ferry. Hey folks, thank you for the thoughtful review!! There are two thermostats in the Trundle Suite -- one for ac and one for the heat. We had such a late spring this year that it was hot and cold for a while. We are very grateful for all the wonderful guests. And we just upgraded the water garden, so we hope that you'll come again and visit and see the water lily, lotus, and flowers blooming! There are so many fun things to do up here! Let us know if you'd like any suggestions.

Room was very small but quaint and comfortable. Breakfast was furnished from a local cafe and it was OK. It was near town and the attractions and not far from the Antietam battlefield. I have no idea what other accommodations in the area cost but it seemed a little high for the size.

Dear Patrick, thank you for your feedback! I hope you'd appreciate a thoughtful response. We put a great deal of thought and care into our guest experiences! When booking on Expedia, please check your Expedia messages. We send detailed check-in information to ensure that you have an awesome stay here in Harpers Ferry. Your stay was in the cozy Trundle Suite, and that is a private suite apartment with kitchenette and perfect for couples. Among the highlights of what we do offer here are a location that's walkable everywhere, the two private suite apartments, each with a kitchenette/kitchen, free parking, our Harpers Ferry Guidebook that we publish, luxury beds, thorough attention to detail, outdoor private gardens, free campfire and firewood, early check-in, delicious breakfast made to order from a menu, early breakfast option, late breakfast option, and a great deal of knowledge about the area that's available for you. Our partnering staff also attentively does all that we are able with what we have to work with for all our guests to have an awesome time; and to keep coming! In terms of the costs of doing business, please keep in mind that this being a rural area, we partner with on-call professional housekeepers and breakfast cafe staff. We've wanted our bed and breakfast to support local economy, and I hope that's helpful to know. In order to make this worth our time, as well, given the cost of doing business including retail booking commissions, the Trundle Suite we offer at economic rates. For a much larger suite, please see our Carriage House Suite. Our non-peak season rates are lower during the months of November, January, February, and March. We're the only bed and breakfast in town with this unique facility and that serves breakfast to family.

Charming stay in a wonderful town!
We fully enjoyed our stay at the Lily Garden. Shawn was very quick and helpful with our reservation when we ran into a small issue. He was there to greet us when we arrived with a friendly hello and a recommendation for dinner as well as scenic walking directions. The B&B is full of charm and all of the amenities needed for a night away. It was very quiet which was an unexpected bonus as we were very tired after a weekend of backpacking. It is also in a great location for walking and enjoying the beautiful town of Harpers Ferry. Moments from the AT and so many historical landmarks. We hope to come back when we have more time.

Our trundle suite was cozy and comfortable enough for the two of us. Located right in Harper's Ferry close to the border of Bolivar, it is conveniently close to just about everything - the Lower Town, Storer College, etc. for sightseeing and many of the fine restaurants in the area. Sean, the owner, was very friendly, hospitable and attentive to our requests.

What an excellent place this is. The location is perfect for those, like myself, who come into Harpers Ferry by train. The room is cozy and was perfect for my three days writing and walking retreat.
