ich war sehr froh über das check in so früh, dass ich nicht warten musste. Das ganze Haus war sehr einladend und freundlich. Das Zimmer, Küche und Lounge waren gut eingerichtet. In der Küche war alles vollständig, um richtig zu kochen. Der Kontakt mit den Besitzern war herzlich und sehr hilfreich.

Service was poor from the start. I had to wait some time while she fussed over an American couple. When I finally got served a very poor attitude come across. Didn't mention wi fi to me nor towels/face cloth, I had to come down & ask. Sink taps at end of hall for monkey room-hot tap didn't work at all & cold tap so loose you could the whole tap through 90 degrees. Our dorm fairly full & I on top bunk. Some clown came in at midnight & turned his cell phone on & started fossicking amongst his gear. Woke me up & god knows how many others. Place was in poor state of repair. Look run down.

Winter break
Well-located near the railway station. Wood-burning stove keeps things warm and plenty of hot water for showers and washing-up. I spent a few days here between train services and explored by renting a bike and a car.

Nice, quiet and affordable. not many people when I stayed. Reception was friendly and accommodating to my queries. Would recommend this to anyone travelling on a budget.

The concept and design in this backpacker are very special that it used animals as the theme in each room. All the staffs are very friendly and helpful. Love their shower room too which are slide shower instead of rainshower head.

Lovely people, gorgeous historical premises with good elevation and views from the front verandah. Very clean, well organised and welcoming. Owner’s pets will not tolerate any right wing captain America nonsense and will chase red baseball caps. Highly recommend.

Quaint hostel in central location. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the hosts were lovely and there were ample seating opportunities outside on the porch and in the backyard. The only negative thing I have to say is that the bathrooms were a bit old and cold. I would definitely stay again though

We love this place! The animal rooms, great location and friendly staff make us want to go back again! No hassles to park your car, find a quiet space to read, make yourself a meal, visit town or find someone to chat and laugh about life!

The hostel was okay, good location as very close to the town. The room was clean and the wifi was good at the hostel. The gentleman on the reception desk was interesting, kinda rude though. The kitchen and living area was clean and the hostel was generally pretty quiet. I don't think the room was worth $29 per night though.

Lovely welcome and owners with real passion for their establishment. Shared areas were excellent offering dining room and living room areas with plentiful associated free use of resources. Unfortunately the beds were a let down. Despite bed frame being sturdy, the wire mesh holding mattress secure was very squeaky and over used therefore slept in a trough and every twitch was heard by fellow residents. Flooring and wallpaper needed repaired.

Theme hostel with character. Animal pictures on room doors instead of the conventional numbers. Room decor also in line with the designated animal. Spacious cozy family room without ensuite facilities.

Huge old monastery on the edge of the Greymouth CBD has spacious rooms with 10 foot high ceilings and a beautiful view of the city as it is sited just a tad up the hill on the side of the city away from the seashore. Staff is great, beds are comfy, WiFi works great, no TV in the room but common rooms on the first floor provide TV for those inclined. I finished a book in blissful peace and quiet. The old monastery dates from 1916 and has lovely leaded glass windows. If it is a cold night, plug the heater in early. The beds are comfy and the bedclothes are thick and warm. McDonalds is nearly next door and the hostel sits on the NE corner of the CBD. Shared bathrooms are the norm. There was a sink en suite.

The hostel is very dated and the beds were uncomfortable. We had a private room which came with the tiniest tv I have ever seen. The bathrooms are shared with only one toilet and shower in them yet you couldn’t lock the main door which didn’t make sense.

What an awesome place. Great welcome by enthusiastic staff. Very informative, fun and helpful. We loved the animal themes all over including the massive tiger on our bed:) The house is clean, kitchen well organised., pleased to have towels provided. Highly recommended.

No hassles and perfect for an overnight stay. The kids loved the animal themed rooms. Another basin in the bathroom would have been handy as there was a bit of a queue to clean teeth in the morning but otherwise no problems.

Hostel with shared facilities
Despite the fine print that I'd bothered to read on Expedia, this location did not feature private bathrooms nor private showers. As is usually the case with a backpacker hostel, shared areas and amenities were not as clean as we'd hope. This property is fine for what it is, but we were disappointed as we were expecting more. Also, the night before, we'd had a much better experience at a backpacker place at Franz Josef at a fraction of the cost. Greymouth offers nothing, so we'd suggest pressing on to your next destination and skip this place altogether.

Room was not clean upon arrival
When i checked in i discovered my bin filled to the brim of used female sanitary 'tissues' and on the bed as i laid down there were 2 spiders that looked like a species of wolf spider. Would not stay again
