This house is amazing for many reasons. The main one I think is that it is in a location that is nearby to so much to offer, right off the main road - yet - it has a huge, beautiful, garden-like yard in front. We put a hammock up, sat in chairs, napped, read - and that is not even talking about the enjoyable times spent on the large veranda with light, fans, table, chairs.... Very easy to walk to Gibbes and Mullins beaches. Can catch buses right there to go. I saw a huge troop of monkeys crossing street. Buses can take to anywhere you would want to go, but the house also has 2-car covered parking locked into gates at yard and house, off of nice lighted drive. Everything worked, well-stocked. Air conditioning in bedrooms. Huge house really, with good TV and furniture in living area. Plenty of towels, including beach towels appreciated. Mike and Sue were so easy and helpful throughout the entire booking process. If you are someone who likes to stay more in a quiet area, as we have always done on our visits to Barbados (we stay way over on east coast Bottom Bay in neighborhood with no stores, restaurants, etc. - I was worried I would not want to stay on west coast - although most people stay here) However, I can assure you, we enjoyed being close to Folkstone to snorkel, near to so many beaches, and convenience of stores, out-to-eat, etc. Yes there are the traffic sounds, but this is the property to choose, with this beautiful setting back off road with garden yard, very secure. Shower in front to wash off sand, laundry... The large size house and way laid out makes nice for group. It was 3 couples - my husband and our two grown kids and their spouses. Gibbes had some snorkeling, lots of sea glass, was surprised was as quiet as it was, as next beach up -Mullins has bar, activities, restaurant - so choose either right there. Again, huge positive factor was that the owners were so helpful and communicative. I have rented from HomeAway and VRBO... many times, and this was an excellent experience. Would recommend going to Holetown, behind post office/police station, it is where the boats come to snorkel with turtles, could just swim out there. But we did enjoy going on Sin-Bad Sailing Cruise from there. Find Bryan on TripAdvisor. Thanks so much to Spences for sharing their home in Barbados - they have been there for years and can help you with the island experience. Our favorite island vacation for sure.
