We stayed 5 nighys and really enjoyed the Mama Bear Suite. It has a private room and another bed in the front room. Beds were great. Place was clean. Full kitchen. Elizabeth, the owner, was our shuttle driver as we slack-packed our way across Mt. Rogers on the A.T. she was speedy and always there to pick us up.

Clean, cozy, and convenient.
Very nice, clean, and cozy place. Close to everything in Damascus (which, of course, is not a huge town). Check-in was a breeze thanks to Elizabeth (very nice lady). I can recommend this spot!

Home like experience! Great to have a full kitchen. Loved being able to walk to restaurants/shops and bike to Shuttle Shack. Overall highly recommended and will definitely stay again!!

The only negative is that we didn’t plan to stay longer! Our room was perfect for our family of five. We planned to hike to the high point of Mt Rogers after our stay at the Dancing Bear Inn and only stayed one night in Damascus and all wished we had planned to stay longer. We loved walking the beautiful streets and trails of Damascus and hope we can get back when we can stay longer. If you love the outdoors and charm of a mountain town, staying at the Dancing Bear is the perfect choice!

Cute Room
Super cute room, decor was inviting. Parking is a bit of a challenge with a truck, but possible. Bed was a bit hard for our old bones, but the pillows were great and helpful for getting comfortable. Bathroom was small with some mold between the floor and the tub, otherwise clean bedding and room. Nicely stocked with k-cups for some good coffee. Owners were very welcoming and friendly. Riding the creeper trail was a fun activity we did In Damascus and this hotel made extra efforts to help you clean up afterwards.

It was absolutely perfect as a home base for fishing Whitetop Laurel Creek and biking the Virginia Creeper Trail. Low key and everything you need.

We enjoyed staying at this property and it was dog friendly. Love that it was a AT town and seeing the thru hikers. We sat outside on the patio and very quiet and meet Ralph the raccoon. Walking around town was awesome. Would stay here again.

Elizabeth came out to greet me and check me in as I was parking; we had a lovely conversation after she explained various amenities of the room and area. It is both bicycle (creeper trail is nearby) and motorcycle (MABDR starts nearby) friendly. Clean, coffee in room, walking distance to various eating establishments and other shopping. I would not hesitate to book a room here again.

It was nice. Maybe the host was having a bad day but within the first two sentence she insulted our home (Atlanta, which we know isn’t for everyone but it’s my home town) and our car (a old but reliable suburban).

I am very sorry and meant no offense. Our parking lot is very small and I was actually impressed with how the very large suburban was properly parked in the small spot. As you said, bad day and poor sense of humor. I do apologize and hope that hasn't put you off Damascus.

Mountain views, a river stream flowing nearby, small town feel, and great weather were the highlights of our 2022 trip. It is a sport tourism destination, so Saturday was the opposite of the rest of the week with several thousand people extra in town to ride and play.
