Loved staying at the Talbot with one exception. Room was nice but the view, not so much. Literally looked out on the roof of the first floor and air conditioning units from room 206. Would’ve been nice to get some sort of a view rather than tar, rocks, and a/c units. In the end though I just needed a good night’s sleep in a nice room and that’s what I got! On the high end though, the staff was amazing from the valet, to the desk clerks, to the wait staff and chef. All great in an excellent neighborhood full of great options. Lots of local flavor around and within walking distance, for those who are up for a little walking, of many things Chicago…Navy Pier, Michigan shopping, etc… Overall worth it and I will be coming back. I’ll pay for a better view next time:-).

The service at the hotel restaurant needs improvement for sure. However, the staff of the hotel was extremely helpful and nice every time that we needed something or asked for something. There was no safe in my room for whatever reason, and they immediately went and found an extra one and delivered it to the room. They gave my friends that came with me everything that they needed as well.

Had to ask for water, toilet paper, etc. Valet was great, but man behind desk less accommodating. We asked for a taxi to the airport very early one morning. He responded, no taxis! We had taken a taxi every day! A guest at the hotel walked a block and hailed us a taxi!!

Booked the property because my fiancé was flying in and my condo building was undergoing construction. Only to find massive construction and renovations at the hotel, a conference room restaurant, and charged for parking multiple times despite not having the option to opt out originally.

We had some extra costs added to our bill. I alerted the hotel and was told I would be refunded, but I have not gotten any money back yet. Watch your bill carefully!

At first, it seemed like the Talbott was all about its location -- which is perfect for a downtown Chicago/Gold Coast experience. The important museums and fine restaurants are all within easy access. The building itself is spectacular, but the amenities in the rooms not much more than what you'd find in a Best Western Plus. But as the experience over two days played out, it became clear that what sets the Talbott apart is its people. From the servers in the restaurant (certainly NOT a Best Western), to the front desk clerk to the doorman, the Talbott employs an attentive, professional staff that really set it apart from other hotels I've stayed at. They are what make the Talbot an exclusive hotel.

Great Hotel in Gold Coast
Great location within steps of shopping and amazing restaurants! Everyone working here was wonderful and very kind. Our room was a double queen - very large with three people we didn’t feel like we were stepping on each other. The room is a bit dated…comfortable but falls short of the neighborhood and lobby feel. Room was more courtyard feel than a boutique brand from Marriott. Bar had some great drinks and we met some great people over the weekend.

To truly make this a 4 or 5 star stay for the price, offer a reduced rate for valet parking for guests who don’t plan to leave during their stay. Also the vouchers for the hotel bar/ restaurant should be redeemable for the entire stay not just the first day.

Went to watch hockey game at bar…. Homeless street person walked in… sat beside me, ordered a drink …. Very predictable… no way to pay for his drink, bothered me w his stupid jokes .. while I’m trying to watch game and not be rude . Bartender was great as well….NO security or doorman available… I got apologizes from bar mgr… bothered other patrons as well… we all left the bar for our rooms…. This is Gold Coast of Chicago and should not be allowed to happen.
