Special place to stay
Stayed with friends over from USA. We all loved the place, it had the WOW factor we were looking for. Beautiful interior, views and the welcome pack starter was much appreciated (as was the thoughtful store cupboard). Lovely and warm when we arrived and we had great fun in the evenings playing snooker. Would book to stay here again.

Back to Northumberland
The building is unique and was a great adventure for the family staying in our own mini castle - but comfortable and homely. Comfy beds quiet location so all slept like logs. Instructions for the oven and hob would have been helpful. Great base for a relaxing getaway within easy reach of Lindisfarne, Bamburgh and Alnwick castles and Northumberlands beaches and wild open spaces

An enjoyable stay in the Pele Tower
The Pele Tower was a great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is well situated to explore Northumberland. Our host (Ben) managed our messages/enquiries promptly and efficiently. The tower is well provisioned, we stayed in March and so enjoyed the use of the fire. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the showers/bath were effective. The only suggestions we have for development are that we found the lounge furniture to be not very comfortable and so it may be beneficial to consider an update, and the main door lock can be very temperamental. Other than that, we thought the tower was smashing and would consider staying again.

Unique property
The castle was a joy, as was the location. We all thoroughly enjoyed staying there. Ben was very helpful when needed. The area is stunning, ideal for walks, learning the local history etc. A car is needed to get anywhere there aren't any amenities in walking distance. The cleaning could be improved, clumps of dust under furniture, etc it needs more attention. We would stay again.

Lovely stay at the tower.
Great property, lovely location - makes an excellent base for exploring the towns and coastline. Layout of the accommodation worked brilliantly for us (family of 5 adults and one dog)....plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. Has a great sized kitchen, lounge and games room for whole family gatherings in the evening. Excellent communication with the host....lovely welcome pack on arrival which was very much appreciated. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Fabulous stay in own castle
A wonderful few days in my own castle. Luxurious and very well equipped kitchen with a welcome pack. Bathrooms are fantastic. The garden and grounds were enjoyed by adults, 2 granchildren and 2 dogs. The furniture and decor were very much in keeping with being in a castle. the cleaning, bedding and towels was excellent. Lots of family places to visit nearby, highly recommend.

fantastic accommodation with a truly medieval feel, at the same time enjoying the modern conveniences of central heating, comfy beds, modern kitchen appliances. the grounds are stunning, and the short walk down the path into the village is perfectly lovely. the town of alnwick just 15 min away has much to offer, including walks, charming pubs & shops, and the saturday market in the square. we would love to return for another stay in the future.

Our own castle!
Staying at The Pele Tower was a really fun experience. Everything was of the highest quality - the family bathroom was a work of art and the kitchen was beautiful as well. We also found a riverside path nearby where we could walk by the river and then cross on a footbridge to the village on the other side. We couldn't have asked for more when staying here.

Fantastic property
We wanted something different to celebrate my 40th birthday and this tower was certainly that. Both building and decor went together, there was plenty of living space for 6 people, the snooker room is a fabulous add on and resulted in fierce competition! Our only small complaints are the flush on the loo sometimes didn't turn itself off and we've decided we don't like induction hobs but that's probably a personal choice. There is nothing in the village, no shop or pub, so make sure you are supplied before you rock up. Ben the owner was very responsive and we all had a fantastic time

Enjoyed everything about our week’s stay. It’s about 7 miles to Alnwick so make sure you don’t forget essential grocery. Inside is very comfortable and the snooker table is a real bonus. PS. For us southerners the village is pronounced “Whittinjum”!

Lovely property but some issues
We enjoyed the property, the snooker table and the views. Sadly property not cleaned and prepared when we arrived. The bathroom showers are not very nice and need refurbishing. And one bathroom has an unpleasant odour. The owner quickly responded when we arrived and got the cleaner in. Vrbo rather inflexible and will not use them to book another holiday. Never got the grill to work but this may be user error. There were nice touches such as jams provided in the kitchen. Overall the problems were outweighed by advantages and where else would you stay in a pele tower. We enjoyed the holiday but at this price the property needs a bit of investment

Magical
We absolutely loved our stay at what we named 'The Castle.' It had everything we needed and there was so much room. We were able to cook together in the huge kitchen, then head down to the basement after dinner for a game of snooker. It was quite chilly during our stay but we were able to make a fire in the evening which was fantastic. Very close to Alnmouth, Alnwick Castle, Cragside, and we went further afield to Belsay Hall (English Heritage) and Bolam Lake.

We stayed over New Year. Arrived all clean and tidy. Easy to access. Fantastic Kitchen and Living room. Nice and warm during the winter, heating is controlled by a Hive thermostat. Loved the fireplace in the living room, furniture is comfortable and quirky. Loved the fridge in the kitchen. Induction hob, make sure you use the correct pans. Great visit, I’m going to book again. Christmas At The Castle
Ben was brilliant at communication from beginning to end. We have stayed at the tower before and decided when we spotted it was available for Christmas to take the opportunity and it was perfect from beginning to end. Property is well looked after, clean and has everything you need. It was spacious enough for our family and grandparents split between the 3 lovely sized bedrooms. The Castle was warm throughout which was great on Christmas morning when the children got up to see if Santa had been. The kitchen and table were perfect for cooking Christmas Dinner from scratch and seating us all. We all felt right at home from the moment we arrived and it made for as pretty much perfect Christmas. Thanks again to Ben... we can't wait to return!

I really did feel as if I was the Queen if the Castle! A beautiful place to stay, with everything you need. We loved our weekend. There was plenty of space for all of us, the kitchen is well equipped and the snooker table a bonus. Plenty of walks nearby from the beach at Almouth to the Northumberland hills. Any small queries were dealt with promptly. Thank you.

Super castle
We were 2 families on a short break. Check in was straight forward, lots of space for parking. The kids loved the idea of staying in a castle and they loved every minute of it. Lots of space to move around especially the outdoor garden. It was clean and tidy and the kitchen space was fab to cook and eat it had everything you need and was fully furnished. Would highly recommend and definitely return.

Place of refuge!
The Pele Tower has provided refuge to many people over many centuries, and now we were able to get away from it all too in this beautifully converted ancient tower house. Whittingham is a peaceful gem of a village which gave us great access to the stunning Northumberland coast, with its white sands and castles, as well as market towns like Alnwick and Rothbury. The house is beautifully clean, with every modern convenience - we loved the deep bath, the huge snooker table, the four poster bedroom, the American style fridge with ice-maker, the views from the windows, the sunny garden and the Northumbrian flag flying from the rooftop. A very special holiday and we can’t wait to return.

History with all mod cons
We thought the property looked interesting in the photos but we were blown away by the reality. The Tower is stunning and all the rooms are better than they look on the screen. A feeling of space and peaceful surroundings with beautiful objects and decor. The village is beautiful and the views idyllic, the only sounds are birdsong. We enjoyed good weather so were able to have BBQ on the deck in the meadow, if there had been cold conditions there were plenty of books, games & even a snooker table for entertainment. The area is perfectly placed within reach of the coast but also the walks and places to visit towards the Cheviots. All modern conveniences with a historic building.

Like Nothing Else
The Pele Tower was completely different from any other property that we’ve ever stayed in and exceeded our expectations. The charm of the property had been kept whilst still offering smart and user friendly kitchen and bathrooms. The location was very scenic and extremely quiet. It was about fifteen minutes from Alnwick but well worth being in the countryside and away from the town. I would highly recommend this property to couples and families alike.

Lovely family trip
This was our second stay at Pele Tower and once again didn't disappoint. We travelled with our four sons (12-26 years) and our two dogs and our mini castle gave us plenty space for us all to relax and enjoy. The snooker table proved a huge hit with all ages. There are some lovely walks on the doorstep for you and the dogs to enjoy, but do explore further to the amazing Northumberland beaches and beyond as there is so much around. We did experience an unforeseeable problem whilst we were away, but Ben was very quick to deal with it, for which we were very grateful, and it did not impact our holiday. We highly recommend a stay at the Pele Tower and hope to return again
