Before we go further, I would like to stress that this unit is a HISTORIC home. It was built in 1892, and was part of an estate for an original wealthy southern family. I have painstakingly restored it to make it a really great short term rental. What it is not, is a new construction hotel. Therefore, it has a few common Savannah quirks like a slightly slanted floor and doors that swell and shrink with the weather. If this bothers you, you will likely want to seek out a modern hotel, which is much more expensive, but nice in its own right. But, if you want to stay like a local, in a great location with a beautiful pool and a full kitchen for 1/2 the price of a hotel room, this is the place. Truly. Spread the local living love my friends.

This fantastic condo is in the perfect location in the Landmark Historic District of beautiful downtown Savannah, GA. The unit features a large bedroom, large living area, fully equipped kitchen and luxury bathroom with a 2 person Jacuzzi hot tub garden bath. Ohhh-la la. This historic cottage, originally constructed in the late 1800's, has been eloquently renovated and furnished with modern conveniences and a contemporary feel. Walking distance to grocery, bars, fine dining, and world famous Forsyth Park make this an unbeatable location. A ten to fifteen minute walk to the shopping district through the heart of the historic city provides a complete Savannah experience. Also, a short 20 minute drive to Tybee Island for a beach day. Did we mention there is a pool?

Savannah is a city rich in history. From the original squares laid out by General Oglethorpe to the anti-bellum homes spared by General Sherman during his fiery march to the sea, the character of Savannah as it was 150 years ago survives today providing a dramatic backdrop for tours and photo opportunities.

From horse drawn carriages clodding along cobble stone streets to renting mopeds for zipping around squares, there is no wrong way to see the city.

Shopping and art are abundant in downtown Savannah. Broughton Street boasts designers such as Marc Jacobs and the Jepson Art Museum draws international talent. There are also several prestigious galleries in the City Market area.

Visit the plethora of lunch restaurants and coffee houses during the day and enjoy the bar districts of city market and river street in the evening.

Or.......just get out of big city traffic for the week and relax by the pool.

Fantastic!

We loved our stay! As a lover of old southern architecture it was a treat to stay in this 139 year old building. There was plenty of room. The bedroom was huge with a very comfy king size bed, dressers and a desk. Nice size living room and a large bathroom with a jetted tub. The kitchen was very functional and efficient. The AC was great and kept it very comfortable. There was a great back porch with a table. The pool was very nice. A great way to spend the afternoon keeping cool and resting up for evening/night time adventures. It was within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. We didn't use our car at all during our stay. There is a Kroger grocery a couple blocks away so we were never without anything we needed. We met the owner, David, who was super nice and let us know that he was always available if we had any questions. Another huge plus is that we had plenty of parking on our street and were able to park directly in front of the house which made easy unloading and loading of our car. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

Convenient location

My husband and I spent our anniversary at this condo and it had all the amenities needed for a long weekend getaway. There is a Kroger a short walk down the street which was a plus and walkable to many points of interest. The owner was very accommodating when our flight was delayed for a later check out so we didn’t have to drag our luggage or sit at the airport. We would sentry again with some family and friends!

The floors were very slanted. Being 71, it was very hard to walk across. Property was clean, easy to check in and the bed was quite comfortable. Only problem was the foundation, which needed major fixing. Was very disappointed. Wouldnt recommend this property to anyone. We checked out several days early

Nice place to explore Savannah from

Nice location near Forsyth Park and walking distance to Krogers. Lyft and Uber can easily take you all around town when tired of walking in the hot Savannah sun. House is good for a couple. The pool option is nice alternative during hot afternoons. Friendly and accessible owner in David. I would recommend the place for a visit to Savannah.

Cozy cottage

Perfect place to stay for our family of 3. Kitchen had all of the amenities, nice size fridge, etc. We enjoyed the pool on those hot summer days. Nice and quiet. Nice location of the grocery store only a couple of minutes to get there. Property owner was extremely helpful when we arrived. I didn't read the address correctly and was trying to get in the wrong. Oops. He answered his phone on the first ring and helped us. Overall a very pleasant experience. Would definitely stay again.

Mixed feelings

I honestly would still highly recommend this VRBO for a lot of people, just not for me. The most important part is cleanliness. I might have higher standards than most but the house was not very clean. If I was having guests over for an evening, my house would have been cleaner than this house. It appears as if the owner does the cleaning and does not hire a professional. (To the owner: if you do hire somebody, I would reconsider who you are using). LOCATION WAS GREAT!!!! I would personally choose a hotel next time because I felt the cleanliness actually made me apprehensive to other VRBOs. I’ve stayed in other rentals that have professional cleaners and have never had this problem but now I’m scared to take the plunge. The owner was EXCEPTIONALLY KIND! I know this review may not be received well, but I’m just being honest. First impressions are kind of a big deal and when you first pull up the outside of the house looks rough. When you get inside it gets a little better. I dropped the fan remote and had to get under the bed to grab it - there was a visible thick layer of dust that should not be there for a rental home. The bathtub was actually pretty dirty as well. I would not feel Comfortable bathing in there. The bed and couch were so squeaky, I toss and turn all the time no matter where I sleep but I kept my husband up because every movement made noise. For a rental I would hope for better quality overall. Here’s the highlights: affordability, location, friendly owner.

Nice Place But With Some Quirks

First, I want to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Savannah and we would definitely return for another visit, but I don't think we would rent here again. We found David (the owner) easy to deal with & he promptly returned all e-mails & text messages. The unit however is listed as a condo but is really a duplex and there were a few things that we had issue with. The first thing was that there were no instructions (either by the owner or posted in the unit), such as where to empty the trash, WI FI connections, TV channels, operating of the jacuzzi, parking on the correct side of the street for street cleaning or even what to do with the keys upon leaving after our stay. On day one we notified him that the TV in the bedroom was not working (which was kind of a big deal to us) and he told us that he had just discovered it when the last renter left. After reading some other reviews upon our arrival back home, we learned he knew that the TV was not working 2 renters prior to our arrival. He did not even offer to come and fix it. We were there for 7 days. The unit was fairly clean although had considerable dust bunnies behind and under furniture that were visible from the front and sides. My biggest complaint was the bathroom. When I pulled back the shower curtain there was a moldy shower curtain hanging in the window (used as a curtain for the window), which was not very attractive. There were chunks of grout missing from around the tub and the main shower curtain was also moldy around the bottom. Needless to say it kind of grossed me out and using the jacuzzi was no longer tops on my list. I didn't want to spend any more time than I had to in the shower. He also fails to mention that the step over into the tub / shower is about 3 feet high. This was difficult and a little scary for us and we are only in our 50's. This would be downright dangerous for an older person. We did not use the pool as we were too busy but enjoyed sitting out on the back porch in the mornings with our coffee. He could make it a little nicer by simply getting rid of the peeling paint and getting some new chairs. If you don't mind climbing Mt Everest to get into the shower, mold, dust bunnies & peeling paint this is the place to stay. You're close to everything, although not really in walking distance of much. Oh, don't forget to double check the door when you leave, it's hard to lock and often sticks. It may seem locked at first but give it a shove cuz it may not really be locked.

Absolutely enjoyed the time there as always. Love historic buildings especially the slanted floors. Thats what you will find in Savannah historic homes. The pool was awesome didn't have to drive to go swimming and just relax. David the owner is outstanding. We had the pleasure of meeting him this past week and some good conversation. Also it is close walking distance to everything. We also love to cook on the grill so the grill on the property was a plus. We love it there and will always stay there when visiting Savannah. Look no further......

Great for small groups

The Condo was clean, comfortable and plenty big enough for 3 adults. The pool is on the small side but was a nice one and always clean. My only "wish list" item for the condo would be some kind of rack or shelves in the kitchen to be able to store pantry items and maybe a couple of smaller pots for cooking. Got confused somewhat regarding the parking in the back as another renter had parked in front of the red fence that was by the pool. Found the correct parking and it was a little overgrown so I only parked there on street cleaning day. Liked the location and having the Kroger Store within walking distance. The neighborhood was fairly quiet and only a few blocks from the Free DOT shuttle bus stop. We would definitely stay here again

Savannah getaway

Great communication with the host. The property is spotless and parking on the street is easy. You’re no more than a 10 minute car ride to the downtown area. Some of the best all-around food I’ve ever had is in Savannah and you should go to Tybee Island For an afternoon. Plenty of historical sites to visit, lots of history in Savannah. We will certainly return to Savannah and stay again at this property.

Beautiful and accommodating

Above and beyond.. owner brought new tv when TV wasn’t working.. it was perfect! New King bed was amazing and he brought me some awesome tea. So close to so much and easy deliveries.. and we loved we could get to everything with a Lyft or Uber in minutes.. will book again!
