Set precariously on an exposed rocky outcrop, this pretty church is known for its unusual black-and-white façade.
An imposing, dramatically placed citadel, this castle serves as a reminder of the years of unrest on Italy’s northwest coast during the Middle Ages.

My favorite place in Italy.
I took a very interesting hour long boat trip around Palmeria island.
Beautiful little town to visit. Excellent food and views that are out of this world. Some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.
Portovenere is beautiful - especially arriving by ferry.
Lunch or dinner at Locanda Lorina on Isola Palmera is totally worth it! They will pick you up in front of the Grand Hotel by boat - it's about a 10 minute ride across to the island. Great location, great food - great place to hike too.
Portovenere is the best among the many very beautiful villages of the Gulf of La Spezia and Cinque Terre
