ジャングルの中にいるようなとてもステキなホテルでした。

1日遅れて到着した私なのにオーナーのアイリーンさんは、とてもあたたかく迎えてくださいました。朝食もオーナーさんや、他の宿泊のファミリーといっしょに、手作りのパン、ヨーグルト、フルーツと、ジュース。とても美味しく楽しくいただきました。LavaTreeTropicinをチョイスしたのはほんとうに良い事でした。必ずまた、行きます。次はもっと長く宿泊したいです。ここを見た人は必ず予約したらいいと思います。

This is a bed and breakfast. It is in a great location to see the west and southern end of the island. The owner was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in every aspect of our stay. The food/breakfast was great.

This is a quiet Bed & Breakfast

The Lava Tree Tropical Inn is a wonderful little Bed & Breakfast just beyond the entrance of the Lava Tree State Park. The host grows her own fruit, makes her own yogurt and shares stories of her years there. We enjoyed our room, but be aware there is no air condition (fans in room) and some rooms share a hall bathroom. We enjoyed breakfast on the back porch and visiting with other guests. Walking the property is a wonderful early morning activity while enjoying the many native plantings (photo op). Chickens provide fresh eggs! Host has a local map and is willing to help with recommendations for the area. Enjoyed it!

beautiful, comfortable setting

thanks to GPS we had a hard time finding the inn at night, we did manage to get there and were greeted by our most gracious host Irene! she made us feel right at home and treated all guests with a great breakfast every morning. The inn grounds are beautiful and secluded enough to induce tranquility nd relaxation and only minutes away from a variety of dining choices, some shoppping and sight seeing. My partner and I were delighted with the fabulous experience Irene and Charlie have created away from all the tourist hustle and bustle. We would most definitively choose Lava Tree Inn again!!

Geheimtipp - toll, toller, super!

Jederzeit würde ich hier wieder buchen! Irene ist eine Ungarin, die seit vielen Jahren auf Hawaii lebt und dort ein B&B betreibt. Die Zufahrt ist ungepflastert, hier nicht erschrecken - sobald das Tor durchfahren ist, öffnet sich ein wunderbarer Garten mit Hühnern, Sittichen, tollen Pflanzen und und und. Die Zimmer sind hübsch, ausreichend geräumig und sehr sauber. Das Bad ist ein shared bathroom, zumindest, wenn das Haus voll ist. Wir hatten unser Bad für uns allein, da nicht alle Zimmer belegt waren. Irene kümmert sich sehr um die Gäste, gibt Tipps, ist immer mal zum quatschen da - einfach toll. Das Frühstück ist der Hammer - frische Früchte, Ei, jeden Tag auch etwas anderes dabei, frisch gepresster Saft, alles einfach Klasse. Und bedient wird man auf dem schönen Balkon, direkt neben den blühenden Pflanzen. Hühner und Katzen gibt es dort - der Hahn kräht auch das eine oder andere Mal, passt zu der Umgebung und der Stimmung. Gemütlich, familiär, entspannend. WLAN funktioniert hervorragend (mit das Beste WLAN, was wir auf der ganzen Reise hatten). In der Nähe ist der Ort Pahoa mit Post, Geschäften und ein paar guten Restaurants. Auto sollte man haben, auf Big Island geht aber eh nichts ohne - und am Besten auch gleich einen Geländewagen buchen. Ein absoluter Tipp, dieses Haus, unbedingt dort buchen und liebe Grüße an Irene!! :-)

Lava Tree Tropic Inn - Stay in Paradise

Lava Tree Tropic Inn was a perfect Bed & Breakfast and Irene was a wonderful host. We called her a few days before our trip to tell her that we would arrive quite late and she assured us that it was not a problem, she emailed us all the direction and information that we need to get to her house. We arrived after midnight and she was there to welcome us. The house is a few miles from Pahoa and a few miles from the ocean and beaches. It was beautiful with plenty of trees, tropical foliage and beautiful flowers. We stayed in the Orchid suite, which was lovely, clean and spacious with a beautiful stained glass window and a private bathroom with Jacuzzi. We were there for a week and every morning we enjoyed our breakfast with beautiful Hawaiian music; we had fruit juice, beautiful platter of various tropical fruits, yogurt, delicious granola/oatmeal, bread with homemade jam. We also lucky that Irene's chickens laid eggs while we were there so we had omelette 3 mornings, and quiche/spinach pie for another 4 mornings and of course we had a lot of excellent coffee. Breakfast was a relaxation Hawaiian style so we took our time to enjoy and converse with other guests. Irene was very friendly and accommodating, she gave us a map with all important attractions, suggested restaurants and current events; she also let us borrow her snorkels and beach towels. We had a great time with Irene and her cat, Boomy. All in all it was the best stay. We will definitely return!

Little gem in Pahoa

I stayed five nights at the Lava Tree Tropical Inn and I would have stayed much longer if I could have had! Breakfast was served on the patio in front of coconut trees, ananas plants, tropical flowers and more. Irene made a point in serving us an abondant breakfast every morning with homemade bread, local honey, homemade yogurt, tropical fruits from her garden, omelettes made with her hens' eggs, granola, homemade tropical fruit juice and more. The room was just lovely, calm, airy and relaxing and the B&B itself is just a stone throw from the Lava Tree State Monument Park which is just beautiful. From there, you have easy and quick access to the hot pond and tidepools and the Maku'u farmers' market on Sunday morning or uncle Robert on Wednesday night. If you're up for some lava viewing you're also 20 min away from Kalapana and the parking lot where the adventure begins! What I'm trying to say is that Irene has been a fantastic host, in a fantastic house hidden in the middle of a big lush garden, a short trip away from all the best activities you can find on Big Island!

Helpful lady and beautiful forest

The house is quite big and in the middle of nature. We had a personal problem and Irene helped resolve it. She also told us a lot about the Island and places to visit. The breakfast is delicious and freshly prepared. Thanks again Irene for everything!

A wonderful peaceful quiet base for daytrips

I chose the place based on its location, perfect for covering the southern (South Point, Green Sand Beach, Kilauea), central (Mauna Kea) and eastern (Hilo, Akapa watefalls) parts of the island. And Kona and Waimea are only two hours drive away. I found a fantastic inn located a quater mile from from a major road, however where no civilization noise can be heard, day or night. The host makes the stay even more enjoyable with the wonderful breakfasts and excellent travel advice.

Lava Tree Tropic Inn is a beautiful and well maintained property. After seeing the beautiful nature of Hawaii I can't see why anyone would want to stay in a big resort. Irene, the owner, was very helpful with anything we needed and very knowledgeable about things to do both locally and all over the big island. Breakfast was fresh and locally sourced every day! We fell in love with Hawaii and look forward to returning. When we do, well be staying here again! Thanks for everything Irene :-)

A lovely home on a lush garden property run as a Bed and Breakfast on the Eastern side of Hawaii. Expect to feel at home here, not as guests in a luxury resort. We found it the perfect mid-point for going up into Hilo and the Hamakua Coast and down into Volcano National Park. A trip up Mauna Kea to the observatory for stargazing was also a breeze. We loved our time here and will be staying here again.

Comfortable stay

- decent location; just a little difficult to find initially - great host - wonderful breakfast - clean, comfortable rooms - recommend the large room; pay a bit more, but at least you get a lot more space and your own bathroom - perfect for families!

Sehr schönes B+B in traumhaftem tropischen Garten

Sehr schönes B+B in traumhaftem tropischen Garten, direkt neben dem Lavatree State Park. Zufahrt direkt am Parkeingang mit holprigem Feldweg, SUV zu empfehlen. Wir waren 3 Nächte dort. Sehr nette Gastgeberin, sehr gut schmeckendes Frühstück (kontinental), Zimmer geräumig, sauber, schöne Aussicht, zum Teil Balkon. Frösche nachts sehr laut, konnten aber trotzdem gut schlafen. Häufig Regen, etwas weniger als in Hilo. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Fahrten zum Volcano-NP oder an die Küste, in Pahoa gute Versorgung mit Einkaufcenter und Restaurants.

Enjoy Hawaii's natural setting and hospitality

We arrived at the Inn late on a dark rainy night and were greeted by Irene. In no time she had us settled in our cheerful and comfortable room. We fell asleep listening to the chirp of tree frogs and awoke to a crowing rooster. Looking out one of the large windows in our spacious room, we saw what we had missed in the dark -- a welcoming contrast to the looming and desolate lava beds less than an hour's drive away -- a thriving macadamia grove, bountiful fruit trees, lush Hawaiian flora and a herd of contented sheep grazing in a sea of green. We wandered downstairs and enjoyed a relaxing breakfast with an eclectic group of international travelers. The meal literally included the fruits of Irene's labor as well as fresh eggs that her happy hens provided willingly and abundantly -- including one's attempt in the trunk of our car! Within less than an hour's drive, you can visit tide pools, robust waterfalls, gushing lava flows, the museums and offerings of Hilo and experience moments of quiet reflection while hiking. We spent the last two days of our memorable Hawaiian vacation at Lava Tree Tropic Inn and I can honestly say we ended on a high note. Don't expect the convenience of an all-inclusive resort or an all-you-can-eat buffet -- please just appreciate the simple concept of a bed and breakfast with genuine hospitality and camaraderie. We would definitely return!

very Nice stay, great hosts. friendly and always helpful. looks a bit creepy when your getting there after dark, bumpy travel Road looking to lead nowhere, but in daylight it's quite Nice. Room was great but Bring something to put in your ears at night AS the roosters start up early and keep on going.

Beautiful, peaceful, & relaxing!!

Irene is an amazing Inn keeper ! She is kind and welcoming! The property is so amazingly beautiful and well kept! My husband and I will be coming back and I am planning to bring my mom as well ! If you want clean rooms, great atmosphere, and the friendliest kindest people you will find on the Big Island the Lava Tree Tropic Inn is an absolute must!!

A place out of the beasy and noicy areas with a friendly staff, I loved to have breakfast by the beautifully gardens, the breakfast was different taste but delicious. For the beaches and attractions for our interest the location was perfect for us.

feels like home

the place is in a big garden, you will be surrounded by flowers, fruit trees and a nice peaceful athmosphere. Although you are close to nature the house and the rooms are free of insects and other unwanted animals :). Everything is really clean, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast is rich and tasty and homegrown. If you need more fruit juice you get it right from the garden. The owner and their frends, who run the b&b are really helpful, they give advices on how to get to places and what are local attractions if you need it. Köszi mindent, nagyon jól éreztük magunkat :)! Pleasant stay at this lovely inn

The Lava Tree Inn is a cute and cozy two-story house, surrounded by the beautiful nature of the area. It's conveniently located for those who would like to explore the east side of the Big Island and guests can enjoy a daily delicious, fresh and healthy breakfast. I'm not very much into sharing the bathroom with other guests but I had no inconvenient at all with this. The inn is pretty much a quiet place and I didn't see more than 5 to 6 guests during the time of my stay. Rooms are spacious, nice and clean.

It is a B&B not an Inn.

To get to this B&B one has to drive through a sugar cane field and is confronted with a gate which one has to figure out how to open. There is no a/c. You cannot drink the tap water. The breakfast were very minimal.

aloha Klaus, sorry that you where not satisfied with our breakfast...usually guests like it...we would have been happy to help you with the gate if you call/ask...in Puna or I should say most on the islands were rains enough they have catchment tanks...it is fantastic soft water and no chemicals in it but yes! I wouldn't drink it though it goes through all kind of filters....and lastly A/C is really not needed this side of the island, specially in winter....all in all it seams like that you would be happier in big hotels and not in a bed & breakfast...I am glad that you found our garden nice and the cleanliness was also O.K. all the best for the new year, best regards, irene

Great location to visit Volcano national park

Lave Pond is located Volcano, Hawaii, about 3 miles from the national park. Feels like you are in middle of tropical rain forest. Convenient base from which to visit. It is a newer place, custom designed as a B&B. Rooms are on the first floor, though there are about 4 steps to climb to the front. The owners are new and are eager to please. As it can get a little chilly at Volcano, they have mattress heaters and a gas fire place in the rooms. They have a lot of guide books you may read and are quite knowledgeable.

Wunderbares Bed and Breakfast!

Die Lage ist wie in einem Garten Eden, wunderschön und abseits jeglichen Lärms, bis auf die Frösche, tolle Gastgeberin, wurde sehr warm empfangen, habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt, wunderbares Frühstück, würde jederzeit zurückkehren. Die Zufahrtstrasse ist etwas abenteuerlich. Ideal um die Vulkangegend zu besuchen.

Breakfast was great, freshly cooked using fruits and eggs from the garden. Plenty of information about what to visit and advice on restaurants nearby. The location is ideal for lava hiking as well as taking the tour with the lava-boat - in our view the number one thing to do when visiting Hawaii - it is breathtaking, wild, impressive views.

Semi Rustic B&B.

Irene was a fantastic hostess. Additionally, her neighbor Diane provided much history and information about the area. This is a Hawaiian country style B&B that was formerly a macadamia nut farm. There are friendly free roaming chickens and lots of different flowering plants on the premises. As well it is a bird lover's paradise. Most, if not all, of the fruit, drinks, and eggs served for breakfasts were fresh from the property. This made our stay on that side of the island very enjoyable!

Its a B&B; I got lucky, with only two of five rooms occupied, I didn't have to share a bathroom. The two Hungarian ladies who ranthe B&B were deightful, as was the half-Hawaiian, half-Portuguese next door neighbor who arrive promptly each morning at 9am to maintain. However, the frogs and rooster interrupted sleep.

Nice and quiet

Very quiet place! Perfect if you want to be far from the big resorts. Irene prepares very good (and huge) breakfast, perfect to start a long day of visits, hikes, or snorkelling. The path to join the house is a little bit damaged so drive slow if like us you do not have a 4 wheels, but that worth it.

Abundance from lava tree

Irene, the owner/hostess was attentive, helpful and made the most exquisite full and varied breakfast. Eggs and fresh fruits from the premises, with her special Hungarian cheese spread- an amazing experience that you usually don't get from most b&b,s. The 2 breakfasts we shared with delightful travelers from Germany/France/Ireland, Australia, Oregon- Rooms were comfortable and clean with a lanai. Being a vegan vegetarian, I usually don't expect much from places in the food department- I was amazingly surprised - an experience not to be missed

A paradise in Tropical Park

Irene did a wonderful job to keep the house clean and beautiful. Most importantly feel like home. Our room is spacious with a private bathroom. We enjoyed our breakfast prepared by Irene herself with fruits planted in her garden. A paradise for people who love nature and look for a peaceful place to stay.

Beautiful Location Acceptable Stay

This is an idyllic location adjacent to a State Park, lovely, secluded, quiet and comfortable but for the price somewhat dated and in need of some upgrades. And although acceptable, it was neither an Inn nor a Hotel, it is a large house with a number of common rooms and bedrooms, sharing all facilities. Breakfast was good but not a full meal. Overall, an acceptable bed and breakfast at a premium price.

A True Get-away in Hawaii

If you like something different in a remote location, this is the place for you. You are out in the country away from everything - you can let the chickens get you up (something somewhat common in Hawaii) and then enjoy a quiet breakfast out on the veranda. A unique Hawaian experience!!

Casa de hospedaje en Pahoa (hermosos alrededores)

En realidad no es un hotel, es una casa de hospedaje, MUY linda, confortable, bien decorada, limpia, y su dueña (Irene) nos pareció que es una excelente persona. El hospedaje te incluye el desayuno, el cual es elaborado por Irene con insumos muy frescos, naturales y deliciosos, ya que ella misma cosecha sus frutas, huevos orgánicos, entre otros. La casa está ubicada a un costado de una reserva natural espectacular, la única observación es que tengan cuidado para llegar, ya que el GPS te lleva exactamente a la entrada de la reserva natural y ya no detecta la casa por ser propiedad privada. Una vez llegando a la reserva natural "Lava Tree Park" deberán seguir el camino de terracería hasta la tercer casa (ojo: son casas con extensiones grandes de terreno), chequen las fotos de la entrada para que le ubiquen al verla. Si llegan después de las 6:00 pm ya todo es muy obscuro, no se saquen de onda, todo es muy seguro. El hospedarse en esta casa, les permitirá conocer toda la parte sur de la isla del lado de Hilo, conocer el centro de Hilo, de Pahoa, el Parque Nacional de los Volcanes, las cascadas, y recorrer toda la costa de Pahoa, todo es espectacular. Como recomendación general, consideren llevar paquete de datos en su celular para que puedan estar conectados y llamar, ya que en todo Hawaii no hay internet gratis, al menos que en donde estés cuenten con el servicio. De igual forma es recomendable alquilar auto pero ojo con el seguro, es muy caro.
