When I saw this hotel had 10/10 from many other reviews I thought this is the place to be. The location of the hotel is fantastic and our room was a good size with a view of the internal courtyard. However, from our experience the hotel was lacking in service, internal communication with staff and a set breakfast that was the same each day and it was disappointing.

Attention to details and excellent communication!
We had a wonderful stay. The owner contacted us regarding to parking options prior to our arrival (although we didn't drive but was nice they asked). Everything was excellent and there was also live music accompanying our breakfast, what a pleasant surprise. We highly recommend this property.

Place to stay in Sassi
Amazing place in the center of the Sassi. Authentic atmosphere is combined with art objects (one of the main- mirror by Alfredo Pirri) around a hotel with a long and interesting story. Very friendly and helpful staff and individual approach to each guest. Live music during breakfast...was amazing. We had a room with a terrace which I would highly recommend to anyone. Beautiful view and unforgettable sensations from the beautiful Sassi)

Every detail is spot on at this property. Anna and Giuseppe are awesome and available for any need, question, or concern. From the moment you make your reservation they are available to ensure your stay is perfect. The owner is usually walking around and is also available. We were having a glass of wine and he walked by and noticed I was a little chilly. He brought me a soft shawl to wear. Breakfast is great. Our friends were leaving before breakfast for an early flight so they put a breakfast box in their room the night before for them to take. You will truly enjoy your time here. This was the last leg of our trip and I could not imagine a better ending to our great trip. Thank you!!

This is a good experience living in a cave like hotel room for two nights. Matera is beautiful and this hotel is right in the heart of the city. The breakfast is awesome, the best. Staff are very friendly and offered many good advices about exploring Matera.

It is very unique as is Materia. The hotel is essentially built into the side of the hills and are actually caves, nicely finished. The property is small and the staff amazing.
