I felt at home during my first few minutes at the 5 Swiss Hotel. The staff treated me like family and I will never forget all of the wonderful people I met. Nadine, you will always be in my heart, as well as Sylvere, Mya, William. I could just keep going. Good food in the restaurant for dinners, wonderful breakfasts, and lovely grounds. A short walk to the free zone, which is great for shopping, grabbing some local food, or just walking around. Any day trips that you might want to take can be set up with the staff. Even the drivers they send you out with are helpful and kind. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Kigali. You will not be disappointed. I think fondly of my stay often.

All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The grounds are small but are filled with beautiful flowers, fruit trees and herbs. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant, with soft jazz playing and delicious food. I love the vine covered exercise area tucked in above the parking lot. There is plenty of room for drivers to pull in, turn around and exit. This was my first time staying at 5 Swiss and I plan to return on my next teaching trip to Rwanda.

Great hotel in Kigali
My friend recommended it and the best price was on Hotels.com. It’s clean, modern and comfortable with friendly staff. Not stuffy at all. Well situated in Kigali and a good base for exploring further afield. A nice lounge and garden to drink a coffee while chatting to your friends. The bar and restaurant are reasonably priced and food is good. Breakfast is plentiful.

Beautiful and quiet
The hotel is a quaint and cosy place with exceptional service. I absolutely loved the compound with its green spaces, there are many secluded areas one could just hang out, listen to music and read a book. Although it is small, I found it to be private and very comfortable. I absolutely loved my room, it was super clean and quiet. I got a hill view room, but unfortunately they were out of the ones with a balcony. I recomend the rooms with a balcony and will definitely get one of those on my next visit.

Charming hotel in the center of Kigali
Amazing place and very welcoming. This is my second time here. First time was in 2015. I absolutely love this place. People here are incredibly wonderful and treat you lovely. Area is very safe and in walking distance to many places you want to see in Kigali. I live every single person who work here, and great respect to the owner, William.

Helpful staff but expensive.
Delightful staff and delicious breakfast but this hotel was expensive for what it was. No pool, room was small without a view. Have stayed in 2 other hotels in area which were better value but hotel was full when we stayed and the area of Kigali is beautiful.

Small and friendly , would stay again
Only there for one night after a business trip but glad I chose this hotel. Simple but clean room with everything I needed. Enjoyed a nice meal and a beer in the evening. Receptionist was really helpful and cheerful including sorting out a good driver for me and looking after my bags before going to the airport

Perfect base for exploring Rwanda
The hotel is a microcosm of Rwanda - spotlessly clean, well managed and oozing good humour and charm. The reception staff is supremely helpful and there is a reasonably priced restaurant on-site with excellent fare. A perfect base for exploring Kigali and Lake Kivu!

5 Swiss Hotel is Comfortable Stay
This is a comfortable hotel with good service from the staff. When I arrived at the hotel I found they did not have a room for me even though I had reservation. They arranged for me to stay in nearby Umbumge Grand, a 5 star hotel, for two nights and took care of everything. So they are very willing to accommodate their guests. The rooms are a bit small and some do not have air conditioning. There is nice bathroom and closet space. The breakfast is adequate, but does not vary from day to day. If there are quite a few people for breakfast the coffee machine is not large enough and has to be refilled every few minutes. The lunch and dinner menu is good and the nightly dinner specials are generally very good. I had a good tilipia dinner one night and a chicken breast with dijon mustard sauce was very good. So, the food is good and price more reasonable than in the restaurants. Good value for money for this hotel. Would recommend for short stays in Kigali.

Perfectly fine place to stay in Kigali. In a good area. Friendly and helpful staff. I don't know hotels in Kigali very well, but I have a feeling that this one might be better value than others. On the other hand, don't expect anything luxurious. Pretty basic. Thanks for the mosquito net.

Wonderful staff and a variety of breakfast items. The beds were comfortable and clean. This hotel is located near many reataurants and easy access to downtown.

Lovely quiet hotel in great part of Kigali
The 5Swiss Hotel is quiet, relatively small and very charming little spot, located in easy walking distance of the old city centre, and literally 5 minutes from the famous Milles Collines. The rooms are small but very clean and comfortable, with a good shower (lots of hot water). Food is tasty and relatively inexpensive, and the staff are young, energetic and friendly. A quaint little bar in the patio/ garden area is a great spot for quiet drink after a busy day, and prices are reasonable - particularly for the beer (try the Muezig, a local German knock-off). One word of caution - Kigali has become a sprawling city that is actually a conglomerate of about 7 or 8 hills, each with its own more or less self-contained neighbourhood, complete with attractions, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. While it is one of the few African cities where you can pretty much walk anywhere, walking from one hill neighbourhood to the next is not advisable. What looks like a short distance on the map can, due to winding roads, end up being a 30 minute walk. Taxis can be reasonable, though haggling can also be tiresome, and every driver will try to oversell and get you to essentially hire him for a few hours and multiple stops - negotiating on the street is a drag, unless you like that type of thing. Best to get a few trusted drivers from the hotel, and negotiate with them, rather than on the street. Beware also the magazine/ newspaper vendors around 5Swiss - a bit pushy but just smile!

Calm and comfortable place close to business
The 5 Swiss hotel is a small property, close to the business center of Kigali. It allows you to walk to most of the places. The property is quiet and comfortable as well as clean and simple. There is a small restaurant, offering a good breakfast (small buffet and the choice of omelettes) as well as lunch and dinner. Prices for the food are very fair. The property has good Wi-Fi connections, with the exception of the restaurant (budget not supposed to look at your smart phone while eating anyway). It is also a tiny garden which allows you to rest and enjoy the nature while on-site. The rooms are very clean and recently renovated. I like the fact that there were many power outlets to charge your gadgets. The working table was a little bit on the small side. Rooms with a view to the garden are certainly preferred over the rooms with a view to the parking lot. But if you are outside the hotel the whole day anyway, it doesn't matter. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I can certainly recommend the property for short stays, both for tourism as well as business.

Excellent service, staff was extremely kind and helpful. The included breakfast was great and the location was safe and quiet, away from busy main roads. Wish we could have spent more time in Kigali to explore and will definitely stay there again if we're back.

Good Hotel Close to the Business District
Boutique hotel in the diplomatic zone (almost opposite the President's House). The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are large and clean with air conditioning and flat screen TVs. Nice garden, relaxed and casual bar/restaurant. Good value for its location.

A delightful small hotel with beautiful gardens.
It's a small hotel in a very nice setting, with beautiful gardens and overall neighbourhood. The staff are delightful and efficient. The breakfast has the usual things one might expect as well as excellent coffee!

Small, Comfortable Hotel in a nice part of town
I spent a weekend at the 5-Swiss Hotel in Rwanda and was quite pleased with my stay. The WiFi was fast, the bed was comfortable and the TV was large enough that watching from the bed was a nice experience. One thing I didn't realize when I initially booked the hotel was how great the location was. Several malls that feature American-style coffehouses are a 10 minute walk away, the (famous) Hotel Mille de Collines is right across the street, the National Bank of Rwanda is also across the street and the Presidential Palace is right down the road. As someone who was coming to Rwanda for the first time, I found that I had a great sense of security in this part of town. Little did I know that I was also walking distance from a Restaurant called "Heaven" which is known as one of the best places to catch a meal in Kigali. I definitely lucked out!

This hotel doesn't look like much from the outside compared to its neighbors, but the location, rooms and service are excellent! The staff was warm and went out of their way to help us with things like securing transport, and figuring out great places to eat. Overall we loved our stay here.
