Beautiful stay
This place was so close to Shanadoah National Park. We loved it. It was secluded, peaceful, and beautiful views. The property was well maintained. Cabin was clean, inviting, and so restful. Will try to book this place again in the future!

Great cabin stay
This was a quintessential log cabin with excellent access to the Shenandoah national park. There were 4 of us and we all had plenty of room. The kitchen was well stocked. Although it rained the whole time, we still enjoyed the property and utilized the fireplace. There were a lot of mounted deer heads which definitely added character! Overall, the cabin felt very homey and would come back with friends later to explore more

40th anniversary
This place was so perfect to reflect & relax. When we walked in the house there was a beautiful bouquet of roses and a card from Ms McDaniel. We enjoyed seeing so much wildlife and just unplugging from the stress of everyday life. So special for us and we will be going back.

Wonderful cabin borders National Park
Very private cabin far off main road. Three bedrooms in very good condition. Nice large bathroom with double sinks and jetted tub. Beautiful shower doors. Fields in front where we saw turkey and deer. Pond has a lot of fish and was fun to fish for bass and bream. Near Elkton for food or dinners. Short drive to entrance station at Swift Run gap for Shenandoah Nat'l Park. Fully recommend this cabin!

Weekend Retreat
From the description on the VRBO website we knew the place was going to be perfect for our ladies weekend away. When we arrived it was more than we expected. It was wonderful! Clean, well stocked, nice linens and set up for a relaxing time. Close to the national park entrance and all the hiking you want to do. Host was prompt with answering questions and very kind. Would recommend and would come back!

Celebration of Life
Enjoyed celebrating a 60th birthday of peace and relaxation. Nice and cozy place, sitting around the fire enjoying our glasses of wine. Truly like the decor and warmth but it felt like we were away from everyone else. The place was truly what was described and all it offered. As the birthday girl described it: simple but wonderful, just the way she wanted. I look forward to a Spring or Fall rental.

We will be back !
What a lovely cabin, and the property was heaven on earth! We fished in the stocked pond, explored the property for hours, hiking in the woods and through the fields. We enjoyed sunsets outside at the fire pit, and cozy nights by the fire inside the cabin. Coffee was in the front porch swing looking at the mountains that surrounded us. Everything was spotlessly clean, and Brenda was very quick to respond to any questions I had. The kitchen was not just stocked, it was WELL stocked with good cookware and every gadget you could need. We cannot wait to return, 5 stars for everything!

Great secluded get-away
This cabin reminded me of one built of "Lincoln Logs"--the real deal. It is comfortably furnished--like one would expect in a cabin, with each bedroom having a different cabin-like theme. The walls are adorned with taxidermy (not my taste!), and the outside porch with two swings is just magnificent (definitely my taste!). It was so relaxing to sit on the swings and look at the field. The property is beautiful and secluded (there's a .5-mile drive from gate to house), and nice for a hike-- yet a short distance to one of the entrances to Shenendoah National Park and convenient to restaurants. The host is very hospitable, even leaving a sweet surprise for us upon arrival and making sure all was well during our stay. Some suggestions: for any rental, check if you need to bring necessities (e.g., toilet paper).

Absolutely Winderful
We had a fantastic time in the seclusion of the Shenandoah woods. The property and cabin were amazing. It was so relaxing with everything you need for a peaceful vacation. Our family especially enjoyed the porch with the swings and view of the meadow with many butterflies and deer.

This was just what we wanted and more. I loved sitting out on the front porch and watching the deer in the field. There was plenty of room to spread out and a big table for family games. The national park entrance was about 15 min away and we hiked everyday. The property is so large and beautiful that you could only see and hear nature.

Quiet Anniversary Trip
We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful home. It was just what we wanted, a quiet and peaceful stay. The kitchen was well stocked, and Brenda was kind to leave us the items to fix s’mores on the fire pit. Nature was bountiful with butterflies, dragonflies, song birds, and even a doe with her small fawn that came right by the front porch where we were sitting. We can’t thank Brenda enough for her kindness and for sharing this special place with us.

The cabin was beautiful, clean, decorated nicely, had a great kitchen to cook in and provided other great amenities. The grounds were gorgeous and we enjoyed watching the sunset from the porch and deck. The cabin was also centrally located to the National Park and other sites we wanted to visit. WOW! Amazing location!
Wow! Some places glitter on the listing but pale upon arrival. That is not true of this gem. The cabin was among the cleanest homes we have rented and the location is absolutely amazing. Peaceful. Totally quiet and feels away from the world, but so convenient to the National Park and nearby ammenities. I was here with my husband and young adult sons, who enjoyed days full of fishing and photographing in the park. This space was perfect for us. Kitchen is well-equipped. We did all our own cooking, grilled our own dinner most nights and this kitchen had everything we needed. It was a cloudy and cool week, so upon returning to the cabin each night we were glad for the coziness of the living room. Had it been warmer, I know we would have made use of the fire pit and spent more time on the front porch. As it was, I enjoyed my coffee out there each morning, under a quilt for warmth. We were visited by deer, a turkey and many birds. Can't say enough what a great spot this is. We are eager to return!

It’s a lovely house in a remote and quiet location, only a short distance from Skyline Drive. It was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Not being hunters, we were surprised by all the trophies of deer, elk, and bears surrounding us in the living room, but we got used to them.

Peaceful Cabin Stay
My husband, my daughter and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. Our stay was so peaceful and wonderful. The cabin was very clean and roomy. We loved the firepit and the smores makings were a wonderful surprise. The property is so beautiful with views of mountains, woods and pastures. Awesome Cabin on beautiful property Near Shenandoah National Park
Visiting Shenandoah National Park was a great trip for my wife and was made so much better by our stay at Ms. McDaniel's wonderful property. We wanted our own place away from the city but NOT too remote. This Cabin was perfect! It was located less than 3 miles from the Swift Run entrance to Shenandoah National Park, which is almost exactly in the Middle of the park. From this entrance you are able to go North or South to reach any of the amazing hikes and overlooks along Skyline Drive. You are also just 5 miles from Elkton, a small town with all the amenities you will need. There are multiple gas stations and small stores in Elkton, and enough restaurants to give you a variety of food choices for the week. We tried El Paso Mexican Grille, Goodfellas, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Dairy Queen and Mama Mias. Every one we dealt with in Elkton & Shenandoah were super friendly and helpful and the food was great. The property is located just off a main road and relatively easy to find. Ms. McDaniel’s emails and texts to us just before our arrival made things so much easier to understand and made finding the property and the Keys a breeze. I would recommend doing a few Google Map Views of the road around the property just to get yourself familiar with where you are going. Its really dark at night. There is a privacy gate that you have to get through and may seem like a pain, but it gave us a little more peace of mind. The driveway to the home is a fun ride. It is a Two-Track Gravel Driveway up to the Cabin that goes thru some dense woods and has some steep parts. Take it slow and enjoy the deer and other wildlife that may be startled by your presence. Its farther than you would think, but just follow Ms. McDaniel's direction. The Cabin was clean and neat with all the things you will need. Lots of Animal Mounts on the wall. They are beautifully done and nicely presented, but there are a lot of them and some are big. Prepare your younger kids. Our favorite part was the front porch. We spent many hours out there every day. The scenery and the sounds of the birds and crickets was just so relaxing. Don’t forget to check out the stars at night. You are 45 Minutes away from Luray Caverns and an hour from Monticello. Both were worth the trip. The Hikes in Shenandoah NP were awesome. Ms. McDaniel was super helpful and gave us the attention we needed and responded quickly to any questions we had but left us alone to enjoy our stay.

Wonderful stay
We stayed at the cottage in July 2021 with our friends, the house was very clean, we enjoyed sitting in the evening on the back porch and watching sunset. We hiked for 4 days in the park, which was a short drive away. The house had a good number of the cutlery, pots and pans which we put to the good use -we cooled at home all meals. We also enjoyed walks on the property and fishing in the pond!

Quiet, Remote Property with a Great Location
The house had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed the remoteness of the property. The only sounds around were nature. We saw plenty of wildlife on the property. Absolutely a great distance to SNP and Elkton for restaurant locations. We enjoyed using the fire pit and swinging on the porch swings. We also went fishing at the pond on the property (we mainly did catch and release, but there are plenty of fish in the pond). Overall, the entire family liked the property.

The cabin was perfect. We absolutely loved it. We chose it because it was so close to the entrance of SNP. and it didn’t disappoint! Ten minute drive to the swift run entrance. The cabin was clean and stocked with the basic necessities. We spent everyday in SNP and ate most of our meals in the park, but the cabin had everything we needed to make breakfast or dinner. The charcoal grill was great. We loved the fire pit area but didn’t get to use it because it was in the 90’s most of the week. We loved how private it was. And we enjoyed watching all the deer every morning and evening. We were even greeted by a small tortoise in the drive when we first arrived. We named it Terrance. We would definitely rent again if we come back to the area. Brenda was very thoughtful and helpful. It was a great vacation.

Cozy cabin with all the comforts of home. Cabin was very clean and communication with the Owner was great. Ms. McDaniel was a great host and provided hiking maps for us. Check in and check out process was very easy. If you are looking for first class accommodations very close to the park, this is the perfect place to stay. If we ever come back to visit I definitely want to stay here again. My husband and I travel a lot and this is one of the nicest cabins we have stayed at.

Amazing long weekend
The property and house was exactly what we needed for a long weekend away. The kids had plenty of area to run at night and in the mornings. The location was perfect for hikes on the trail and some trips to local wineries! And the s'mores were an added bonus and perfect for a late night/by the fire treat. Communication was so easy - for recommendations, tips on where to find gas, and making sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!
