A former railroad town in central Arkansas now offers artisanal shopping and outdoor recreation within a short drive from Little Rock.

Located in the heart of Arkansas, Cabot is a laid-back rural center with great shopping and a wealth of parks. Enjoy some retail therapy at boutique stores and markets and experience this one-time railroad town’s community spirit at its inner-city parks. Situated in central Arkansas, Cabot is a comfortable daytrip destination from the state capital, Little Rock.

Cabot’s downtown district is home to a varied collection of shops. Check out fashion boutiques, florists, jewelers and thrift stores and rummage for one-of-a-kind and secondhand goods at flea markets. Pick up local produce, sample artisan goods and soak up the community atmosphere at the weekly Cabot Farmers Market. Pause for reflection at the Veteran’s Monument, which honors the servicemen that fought in overseas wars.

Join locals on a sunny weekend and head to the one of the city’s many parks. Both Fairland Ward Memorial Park and Richie Road Park have picnic areas with covered pavilions, children’s playgrounds and wooded walking trails. Follow a trail around a pond, play a round of disc golf or grill on the public barbecues at Cabot Community Park.

Golf enthusiasts will enjoy a round at one of several courses located a short drive from Cabot’s downtown area. Among these are Southern Oaks Country Club and Deer Run Golf Course. Enjoy some family-friendly fun at Cabot Mini-Golf.

Just a 20-minute drive southeast from Cabot is the city of Little Rock. Visit its historic attractions such as the Arkansas Governor’s House, the Arkansas State Capitol and the Old State House Museum. Have fun on the rides at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds. Find bars, galleries, live music venues, restaurants and shops at the River Market District.

Reach Cabot by flying to Little Rock’s Bill and Hilary Clinton National Airport and then renting a car from there. Airport shuttles and local buses also service Cabot. Use the city as a base for exploring other regions of Arkansas, including the Ouachita National Forest and Ozark National Forest, each around a 3-hour drive away.

"Overall, this was a nice, clean place to stay with friendly employees. It should be noted that there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, so if you have lots of luggage or physical issues, you may want to verify you get a 1st floor room."

Cabot is a nice place to visit, however it has quickly outgrown its transportation layout. More thought needs to go into working on the 2nd exit. Traffic coming into Cabot from Beebe area is awful. The overpass on the 2nd exit gets extremely backedup

I like Cabot, and I enjoy visiting my aunt and uncle here when I can. It has a nice small town/suburban feel.
