Our trip to Sri-Lanka
The property was all it is described as in the details. It was tastefully furnished, the bedrooms were lovely, the living areas spacious and the garden beautiful. The property is literally steps from a long, wide, sandy stretch of beach. You could not get any closer. There are plenty of corners to the garden too to provide privacy and shade. The staff who worked at the villa were very sweet, helpful and generous. The provided the most incredible breakfast every morning which was included in the price of the villa - a lovely surprise. I have never seen so much delicious food at breakfast time. It just kept on coming and was full of traditional tastes and surprises. They also prepared a delicious meal one of the evenings which was not included but neither did we expect it to be. The people of the country are kind, generous, warm and good hearted and apart from the beauty of the landscape (we explored quite a bit of the country), the incredible food, it was the people themselves that made the experience. Bart was extremely good at replying promptly to our questions and queries during the booking process and was very helpful throughout the many years of having to postpone our trip because of global issues. Thank you to all for a memorable and extremely interesting experience. I wish Sri-Lanka all the very best for their future as it has been more than hard for them these past years.

Fantastic experience
We stayed as a family in Villa Golden for 12 nights. The house is perfect, on the beach with a private pool. The staff, house manager, chefs and night watchmen were superb. We asked them each day what to prepare for our meals and they were always restaurant quality. The staff will arrange anything for you, including excursions, taxis etc. Anything you need they will arrange for it to be delivered to the house. Would highly recommend this property.

It was such a lovely experience staying at the Villa. Bart was very prompt with his communication prior to us arriving which was very helpful. Susantha and his staff at the villa did an amazing job in looking after us and all our needs. Would visit and stay there again in a heartbeat.

More than just a holiday
This was the second stay at Villa Golden for several of us and, if anything, it was better than our last visit. The villa is in a perfect setting, you step directly from the garden onto the beach, where you can barefoot to a restaurant or sit and watch the fisherman (or even lend a hand hauling in the day's catch). The villa staff are wonderful; warm, funny and helpful in equal measures and the meals are scrumptious. There are lots of adventures to go on but we will miss our short tuk tuk rides in convoy to Galle Fort for a spot of shopping and yet more food. Bliss!

Wonderful place to stay
This was our second stay at Villa Golden. What can I say that hasn’t already been said in other reviews. It’s wonderful. The villa is very comfortable. The gardens are lovely. The pool is a great size. The location is right on the beach. Small bars and restaurants are a few mins walk away. We recommend Happy Hour at Sadun and Bara Beach Home. Galle is a ten minute Tuk Tuk ride away. Uber is also available if you prefer a little more comfort. We ate at the Church Street Social in Fort Bazar Hotel- it’s classy and gorgeous. Arabella is next door but one and offers amazing food and service. The real stars of the show are the wonderful Staff at Villa Golden. You could not wish for more friendly, helpful and welcoming people. Your every whim will be catered for with a smile. Susantha, Pushpa, Yasiru and Milani are great hosts. The food they prepare is delicious and the best we’ve eaten during our stay. Pushpa’s Sri Lankan omelettes for breakfast are a great way to start the day. The curries are amazing. The owner Bart is very helpful. Booking was easy. Messages are responded to very quickly. The only bad thing about Villa Golden is that at some point you will have to leave .....

Beautiful house at the ocean with excellent and friendly staff
We stayed at Villa Golden in July. The house and garden are beautiful. There is no beach in this time of year but you can still lie on the sun loungers by the water. The house is luxurious with very sweet and professional staff. Whatever we wanted to do it was arranged for us. Sri Lanka is beautiful. Due to ther attacks in April this period was extra calm and we are concerned how much the Sri Lankan population suffers from this. As a tourist you only notice a few number of road blocks, nothing annoying.

Holiday Bliss
We arrived late to a lovely prepared meal. Staff were wonderful, friendly and very attentive, catered for our every need - cooking for us, changing up currency, organising transport for trips etc. Villa was lovely, clean, comfy beds and a wonderful location. People of Sri Lanka were most welcoming and people should have no fear with regards to security as army, police prescence was very visible. It's a shame they have to suffer for a few mindless people. We would not hesitate to return in the future.

Paradise on earth!!!!
My husband, my 10 year old son and me stayed ten days at beautiful Villa Golden a few weeks after the horrible attacks in Colombo. At first we thought the situation in Sri Lanka would be a bit dangerous, but that was really not the case. People are so friendly. We had a marvellous holliday. And Villa Golden is FANTASTIC! The staff were so kind and helpfull. The garden and pool were simply superb, we hardly went out because we didn’t need any more than this. Food prepared by Pushpa and Yasiru was yummie. The villa was very comfortable and the balcony is ideal to have an amazing view of the garden and ocean. We loved lounging at the sundeck at the beach. What can I say more... It was pure HEAVEN! Thank you Pushpa, Susantha and the rest of the staff. We will be back next year!!!

Fantastic house and location and beautifully presented... the breakfasts were superb!
This was a difficult time to be in Sri Lanka and my heart goes out to all those affected by the bombings in Colombo and elsewhere... Our impression was of the unfailing friendliness of everyone we met in our travels around the island and it was clear we were a bit unusual in hiring a car and driving ourselves around... the number of smiles and waves we got were uncountable ... the staff at the house were so helpful and friendly and the breakfasts sublime... we also had some lunches and dinners at the house and I’m sure I’ve come back even heavier!... Galle fort has some really good restaurants and we even made friends just by driving there ... after the first time we didn’t need to pay for parking and were greeted as old friends... even on curfew days the army teams manning the checkpoints were helpful and friendly and we were always allowed to proceed... we visited Udawalawe Yala and the rainforest area and although we had to find some creative ways round the roadblocks we had a fantastic time ... even getting stuck in the maruti jeep in Udawalawe and covered in mud trying to get it free whilst the driver gave it all he had was an experience ... we found out that maruti jeeps are only rear wheel drive!... worth it though for the up close and personal encounter with a big bull elephant!... shame he didn’t push us out!...overall I really hope that the current situation in Sri Lanka doesn’t affect tourism as this is a beautiful country with unfailingly beautiful and friendly people and we should not be cowed by the mindless actions of a few extremists who seek notoriety through violence... Surpassed Our Expectations!
We recently stayed at Golden Villa for 5 nights. It felt like a private hotel! The beach was very quiet, and we especially enjoyed 'Happy Hour' at Sadun, a family run restaurant about a 3 minute walk down the beach. However, the food cooked for us at the villa was so delicious that we ate there all except for one evening. We also really enjoyed the massage at the villa, and the yoga. Staff were more than helpful in arranging these activities, as well as drivers (tuk tuks or a van) when we requested. We made a few trips into Galle as it's only about 15 minutes from the villa and enjoyed our lunches at Poonies restaurant. Our 5 year old said, "Its really good, there are really nice people, and good food to eat. But don't get washed away by the waves!"

Paradise
We arrived in Sri Lanka to find this gem of a property. A beautiful villa, tastefully restored and decorated. We were three families (five adults and five children 7-14) and we really enjoyed our time at villa golden. Pushpa’s cooking was so great, we didn’t want to eat out and the garden / pool were plenty to keep the kids entertained. The villa itself was clean and tidy with a spacious garden and nearby beach bar. The villa backs straight onto the beach at Pitiwella Boossa - it was lovely, but gets very polluted when there is heavy rain (we had one night of rain during our stay but due to the currents, the sea water was not great for about a week). Close to Galle (about 15 mins) and about half an hour to Narigama / Hikkaduwa. There was always a member of staff available to help us plan a trip or provide advice. We hope to visit villa golden again in the future!

An unforgettable experience !
We booked a 6 night stay at Bart's Villa & it was superb! Bart is a very responsive host, replying promptly in spite of a time difference of 7 hours. Our requests were acceded to above expections & this was even before we arriving. Airport pick up was a breeze and check in to the villa was quick. The villa staff appeared cheerful to receive us even at an ungodly hour. The villa is exactly as described ! The view is simply gorgeous. Rooms were very comfortable with ceiling fans as well as airconditioning. The pool is a nice size and we loved chilling out on the hammocks. We enjoyed our interactions with the villa staff. Susantha arranged for excursions to places of interest nearby. Pushpa & Malini prepared tasty Sri Lankan curries for our dinners. Since seafood is in abundance in Sri Lanka, we took advantage of it and had mostly seafood meals cooked for us. Overall, a truly memorable experience and we hope to be back again!

Fantastic villa. The pictures don't do it justice
After renting 8 villas from owners direct over recent years, this is by far the best. Accommodation is of a very high quality and the staff are wonderful, always wanting to help without being overpowering. The pool is lovely and the garden area as fantastic with the beach and the Indian ocean at the bottom. There really is everything that you could wish for. If you want to Sri Lanka then book this villa. 6 of us had a fabulous time and will return

Perfect family getaway
Following a week on our own, our daughter and her family joined us from Australia for an early celebration of my birthday. We had the most magical time in this wonderful villa, looked after by a delightful team for whom nothing was too much trouble. The meals prepared by Pushpa were a highlight for all of us and I only wish I had taken the time to get some recipes! As the main purpose of the holiday was a 'family reunion', we did not go on too many excursions but we all found the tsunami photo exhibition extremely moving.

Amazing beach front property, great pool and walk onto the beach. 2 master bedrooms and great team
Highly recommend Chefs coconut rice and prawn curry. Do this on night 1, trust us! Get the massage guy to come to villa - amazing! Also the villas team will arrange the Yoga guy to come to villa - this is awesome experience even for beginners. In the garden, ocean waves. Highly recommend the safari (just ensure the driver has a pre planned nice location to stop off half way as it is 3 hours). Also shake shack beach in Galle is incredible for drinks and their burgers are amazing. Galle fort very pretty and nice couple of days can be spent exploring the cafes, shops and fort. Only 10-15 mins away. Jungle beach is cool to visit too. Overall, would highly recommend Villa Golden to anyone visiting Galle or the area, whether it be couples (max 3) or families (sleeps 3 couples and 4 kids)

Paradise found!
Beautiful villa set in vast, lush grounds with a golden beach on the doorstep. The villa is well located and a short Tuk, Tuk ride away from ATM & supermarket as well as Galle Fort, which we enjoyed visiting for shopping and eating out. The Villa is right on a busy road but it is gated and this does not affect ur stay as the rooms are all to the front and we were not aware of any other noise but the crashing of waves on the beach. The decor is beautiful with local wood carvings and homely touches. We would have preferred a washing machine but Susantha did arranged for our laundry to be done for a fee. Initially we were concerned about the 24 hour staff but they were all lovely and very discrete. Villa cleaned daily and sheets & towels washed every 2nd or 3rd day. Delicious heathy Breakfast included every morning too. We enjoyed several evening meals prepared by Pushpa & Yasuri which were delicious and my husband very much enjoyed a cookery lesson from them. Susantha was a great host, nothing was too much trouble. He organised our outings, giving us local advice. Always smiling and approachable. The night guard was so friendly and it did feel good having him lock up and patrol the garden at night. We all had a fabulous sleep in the very comfortable, net draped beds and only got 2 bites the entire holiday. All in All, we had the most special vacation on this beautiful island and hope very much to return to Villa Golden again in the future.

Fantastic, wonderful secret. The perfect holiday!
One of the best holidays we ever had. Villa Golden has just been completely renovated and what a treasure it is! Large, comfortable rooms with an ensuite bathroom, a/c, good quality matrasses. Linnen and towels changed on a regular basis. The staff cleans the villa daily. All the ingredients are present to guarantee a relaxing holiday in a tropical setting (the garden is amazing!!!) and all of this straight at the Indian ocean with an almost private beach. Pushpa, Susantha and Yasiru are the perfect hosts. And the nightguard is so funny! Nothing is to much for them. We felt pampered from the first day. Breakfasts are healthy and everyday something else. Pushpa and Jasiru cook terrific dishes. I wish this holiday could have last for ever! Already looking to book my next vacation here!

Perfect location, incredible service, beyond expectations
Literally everything was as you'd wish for from the pictures, only better. The staff are friendly, helpful and discreet. The garden is immense, the pool is perfect, the beach at the bottom of the garden is extremely quiet and beautiful. The local towns of Galle and Hikkaduwa are easily reached via public transport or tuk-tuk, and there are a good number of shops within walking distance. We couldn't fault any aspect of our stay, and recommend Villa Golden highly to others!

Comfortable,well looked after,very friendly staff
Beautiful tropical getaway with large garden,access to the beach,lovely swimming pool. Pushpa, Susantha and their friendly team looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they all love children which made us feel very welcome. The villa is on a busy road with continuous traffic which makes the front bedrooms quite noisy especially at night. Overall we had a fantastic holiday.

A magical place
The location of the Villa, it's lovely garden, pool and access to the beach cannot be faulted. However, it's the staff that really make a difference. They add a sprinkling of magic dust. They have the balance just right. Attentive but not intrusive. Always smiling and Pushpha's food is amazing. The Villa is spacious and has comfortable beds. It is rustic and for me the bathrooms are quite dark but this seems to be the typical Sri Lanka style. The water pressure in the electric shower is rather slow and it would have been great to have access to a washing machine but now I'm being picky. We have only just returned and I'm looking at flights again for next year as it has been one of the best holidays. The Villa is next to a busy road but it's hardly noticeable as the sound of the ocean waves right on your doorstep drown out any road noise. Galle is 10 mins away in the Tuk Tuk. It's great fun and it's easy to find your way around.There is a little beach bar about 5 mins walk on the beach that serve snacks n drinks and it's a good spot to stop and chat. The beach is really quiet just you and the local fishermen who are very friendly. We had planned to do more trips out and about but we just loved being spoilt in the Villa. It was hard to leave. If this is your first time to Sri Lanka then this Villa and the staff will make you fall in love with the place. We are looking at flights again for next year. Thank you all for a wonderful time!

Great Pool Villa at the beach
This was the best stay during our visit of sri lanka. We stayed there with our bigger kids and another family. The house has four rooms with AC. One with four beds which was perfect for the kids. The house and the Garden has several cosy places to stay and relax and have some space. My favorite place were the sunbeds overviwing the beach. The villa golden staff is just perfect. They are the greatest cooks and we got every day some new sri lankan specialities. They cared so much about us. We loved it. We also liked to go down the beach to the bar and enjoyed a sundowner. We would really love to come back one day.

Paradise, perfect location
We had a wonderful time at this spacious house with a good pool, direct on the quiet beach and with a super lovely personal team. We also enjoyed the very tasty breakfast and dinner from the 3 gorgeous ladies in the kitchen. If you wish they cook everyday for you. Also the house keeping was perfect. We love to come again.

Amazing vacation
We had a wonderful time at the villa. The staff made all our wishes come true and helped us organizing trips. Pushpa made excellent dinners we all enjoyed. The villa itself offered all we needed to enjoy our vacation => nice pool, short way to the beach with waves to enjoy, good working AC (very important) and we loved the big showers. We can absolutely recommend the villa for a relaxed, pampered holiday. Thanks to the staff for taking care of us and Bart for letting us stay in his villa. Holiday in paradise
We enjoyed our stay at the wonderful Villa Golden near Galle very much. It has a beautiful pool and a big garden that is well kept. The sea is just in front of the house and it is big fun to swim in the waves. The stuff of the house is very friendly and took care of all of wishes. We highly recommend the Villa Golden.
