Converted from a local bank, this property is ideally located for a peaceful break in Aberdeenshire.. This unusual holiday property has been imaginatively converted from the local bank to extremely good effect. It features a wonderful spiral staircase which ascends from the bright, airy living room to the master bedroom. Set in the heart of the quiet traditional fishing village of Whitehills, visitors can easily walk down to the quaint harbour and marina, where locally caught fish can be bought. A walk along the rocky shoreline towards Boyndie Bay with views towards Banff makes an enjoyable afternoon, or visit the villages of Crovie and Pennan (of Local Hero fame), which cling to the rocky coastline further to the east. The Moray Firth is known for its mild climate, lovely sandy beaches and dolphin sightings. Shop 10 yards.. 1 step to entrance.

This cottage has been beautifully kitted out with period artefacts all of which adds to the enjoyment of the cottage. The best pub/restaurant is 2 minutes away and the Rock Fish and local stores are 5 minutes away. Whitehills is also a lovely village Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Aul’ Bank. The accommodation was excellent, comfortable, spotless and spacious and we liked the quirky period furniture which gave it a unique feel. Alison, the owner, was lovely, met us on arrival and departure and was very friendly and helpful. Everything you needed for a holiday was provided from the well-equipped kitchen to a wide selection of book, DVDs and board games. The location in the centre of Whitehills was only a few minutes walk from the harbour and Coastal Trail and from the excellent Rockcliff Chip Shop and The Galley Café/Restaurant which both provided excellent food, as well as the local shop which had everything for your needs. We also had a couple of takeaways delivered from the Real Tandoori in Banff which were great. Whitehills is an excellent base for walking and visiting a lot of the other fishing villages and towns in the area. We will certainly go back to the Aul’ Bank. Great house and very comfortable. Spiral staircase a lovely feature, but not for use by the young or elderly. Kitchen very cluttered upon arrival, but once we’d put things away which we weren’t going to use, there was plenty of worktop space. It’s a shame there is no outdoor space, but the Seafield Arms just 50 yards away serves great food and has a good garden. Owner very friendly and overall a good week.
