We totally get how it can be confusing - if you're just looking at the popular amenities on this site, it lists "breakfast available", but doesn't give us the opportunity to include information about the charge on that line. If you open up "see all" just below that, where all amenities are broken out individually, it does list the cost. Currently we don't have a more clear way of highlighting this, but in the future when booking through this site you may just have to dig around a little for this information. We apologize for the inconvenience of this. Wishing you safe travels, with only fun surprises!

We do our best to advertise that we are a heritage property without elevators, but as you say we are always happy to move someone into a ground level room if one is available. Hi Philippa, I appreciate your feedback! The room you had booked is called "petite room - one double bed". It's important to fully read the title and description of the room type you're booking, so that there are no surprises when you check in. Hi Ahmed, While we appreciate that not everyone has a credit card, this policy is standard practice in Nova Scotia and beyond. Everyone who has a guest room, pre-paid or otherwise, needs to provide either a credit card for us to place a hold on, or a cash/debit deposit. This is for liability reasons - if a guest were to smoke in, or otherwise damage their room, without a credit card or deposit we would have no way to recoup the cost associated with that. While this doesn't happen often, it -does- happen, which is why it's a standard policy for most Canadian hotels. We regret to hear that you found this policy upsetting, but if you stay elsewhere in Nova Scotia you can expect to run into this again.
