Thank you for your review. We respect all clients reviews and use them as a tool to ensure that we better our overall service. Our establishments environment is such that we and 99% of our clientele appreciate having as many trees and the abundance of green space as possible in our premises especially since we are situated in the centre town. Admittedly this does attract a number of insects, which is why we have mosquitoe nets on all our beds. I am shocked to hear that you feel our Staff were discriminatory towards you. I do feel rather that it could be a misunderstanding or perhaps a translation issue rather than discrimination. We have a huge number of Japanese clientele staying with us as well as a diverse cross section of other different nationalities and this is the first time I have heard a complaint of discrimination. You mentioned that there was no washing machine; We in fact do have washing machines as well as a laundry service. Again perhaps there was another misunderstanding or language breakdown. Lastly, our kitchen is a communal kitchen and we do not interfere with clients food left in the fridges. This being said, we cannot rule out that sometimes other clients using the same facilities, tend to use what is not theirs. Unfortunately we have no control over this and depend on our clienteles honesty. I do feel that due to what I perceive to be your misunderstandings, that your low review is somewhat unfounded. It is always very difficult to please everyone all the time and hope that you will come to realise that perhaps your review was quite harsh.

Thank you for your review. We treat everyone’s reviews and comments with the utmost seriousness and use their criticism to ensure we improve our product all the time. We are very pleased that you appear to have enjoyed the general amenities we had to offer. With regards to the communal kitchen; The utensils and appliances are there for use by client who wishes to do so, and this is all done free of charge. It is unfortunate indeed that some clients do not feel the need to concern themselves about fellow travelers and either leave their items behind when they leave or just leave everything untidy. It is very difficult for us to know whose items belong to who and cannot interfere with anything unless it appears to be going off and is becoming a health hazard. This is the only time our staff will intervene and throw stuff in the bin. Likewise, since it’s a communal kitchen, we rely on other client’s honesty and trust they don’t interfere with items which don’t belong to them. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. With regards to the rooms; We have several options and try to meet all budgets at Fawlty Towers. The room you stayed in was deliberately kept at a lower rate since there wasn’t an air conditioner in there. We try to assist with this by having a fan in the room, however, it is the client’s choice at the end of the day as to what room they would like to stay in. For an extra $5/night, you could have had an airconditioned room. We feel that this is more than reasonable and justifiable. With regards to the insects in the room; we do apologise most profusely about this. We have since resolved this problem. We cannot explain why this happened since all the rooms are carefully cleaned each time a guest departs. If you had come to us with this complaint as soon as you noticed it, we would have tried to have resolved the issue there and then. Internet; We pay over $700 per month for our clients to have FREE internet! Unfortunately, some clients abuse this facility and use up the daily bandwidth by streaming. It is very difficult to avoid this, and we rely on them NOT using our internet for this. However, it is very difficult to control this abuse without changing the set-up. That would mean that clients would end up paying for their internet, for which in Zambia, is very expensive. Notwithstanding the insect issue you experienced for which we are very sorry about, I’m sure if you put together the free internet, free 10am transfer, free airport pickup, free use of the communal kitchen, free tea and coffee throughout the day, free pancakes at 3pm, budget room rates, secure environment, town center, etc. I think we actually do a lot to ensure our clientele are very happy when they stay with us.

Guest behaviour is something that is difficult for us to control, but we don't often have these sort of problems here at Fawlty Towers. Our security are however supposed to ask people to quieten down late at night, if the guests are being inappropriately noisy. I shall remind our security of this duty. Hi Leo. Thank you so much for your lovely review and for your thoughts on our evening meals. Just to give you some feedback/history regarding our dinners... We have, for years, tried to get an evening dinner going, but as we are so close to most restaurants, guests generally seemed to prefer to go out for dinner. We have,however, noticed that in the last couple of years, people are preferring to eat in, perhaps because we have done some nice renovations in our bar and have a more ambient vibe in our cafe area. So, we have just recently (just in the last 2 months) built a pizza oven and have started serving pizzas from lunch time until 20h00 every night. However, if we find we have more demand for dinners going forward, then we may expand our menu.Thanks again. With best wishes
