I have stayed at the Belmont many times. It has everything going for it. It is a 5 minute walk from the station,, it has a huge car park, and it runs along New Walk, the most attractive part of Leicester by far.
The downside is that the Belmont needs refurbishment, but I understand the financial constraints. In particular the bar area needs an upgrade. The seating needs recovering, the lighting is dated - the side lamps are 1970s if not earlier. They have been tickled with a feather duster but could do with a deep probe clean to get out the layer of dust on the rotated tiles. This won’t cost too much but would make a heck of a difference.
The carpet on the first floor is almost certainly from the swinging Sixties. Love it or hate it, I’ll be back. It’s the best hotel in Leicester.
