Wonderful stay!
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Lovely home, fully equipped/updated kitchen, great screened in porch, awesome sun deck off the main bedroom. Ruth was easy to communicate with and offered suggestions for local restaurants. So nice that beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach cart are part of the rental! We’ll be back for sure!🎉

A lovely getaway...
Everything you need within easy reach...rent your bikes at YOLO around the corner or just walk to the beach. Lovely breakfast down the street or dinner overlooking the water at the Green Flash. Coffee on your lanai or a specialty brew down at Boops. Whatever your pleasure, you can find it close by. The owners clearly love their oasis and take good care of it. Nothing lacking and we would gladly stay again. Thank you!

Beautiful property for a beautiful place!
Family wasn’t sure we would be making our annual beach trip to Sanibel/Captiva due to the rebuilding after the hurricane last September (2022). This property was perfect for our family! Fully equipped with literally everything you need for a comfortable stay! Top of the line appliances and beach equipment made for an enjoyable stay. We look forward to returning to our family’s favorite beach and hope to stay at this property again! (Only longer than a week!) Thank you “Ruth” for allowing us the privilege of staying in your beautiful home!

Beyond Spectacular
This was my first time back to Captiva in 10 years and it was my fiancé’s first time visiting. Captiva was my family’s annual vacation for more than two decades, so there was a lot of “pressure” on this trip to live up to everything I remembered from years’ past! I was absolutely blown away by this house. Not only is it beautiful, but Ruth makes sure you have absolutely everything you need. The beach cart, umbrellas, pool/beach rafts, etc. made everything seamless for us to just walk the couple minute path to the beach and have a great day. We did not do much cooking but we could have made virtually any meal we wanted to with her appliances and cooking tools. The walk into town was so easy and we enjoyed taking a couple of Captiva Cruises (Wildlife Sunset and Cabbage Key) from McCarthy’s around the corner. Most mornings we ate breakfast on the beautiful enclosed patio and listened to the birds chirping! I could go on and on (and already have), but bottom line is Ruth is an absolutely exceptional host and we were so sad to leave that we are already trying to plan our return trip to this house! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Perfect spot on Captive
The property listing is accurate and the house has everything we needed to enjoy our stay on Captiva. This included beach towels, beach chairs, a great big wheeled rolling cart (that made it easy to make it over the steps of the boardwalk), coolers, and an umbrella. The house is in great shape and comfortable, the kitchen well stocked and nicely appointed, including a much needed blender. The beach is a short walk, just take the boardwalk by the pool, 5-10 minute easy stroll. And restaurants and the island's general store are just as close of a walk down the road. Only thing I could wish for for a future stay would be more pillows since my wife and I are definitely used to more than one each.

Wonderful Vacation Home

Awesome Family Retreat!!
This was our 3rd year visiting Sunset Captiva. It's a calming community that is well-maintained with a good beach. The house was very nicely updated with ample beds & living spaces for larger families. All of the things you need for a fun beach vacation are provided. Thanks to the homeowners for the opportunity for another wonderful Captiva vacation.

Exceptional Home
This is the place to stay on Captiva Island! Our family of six absolutely enjoyed our stay and have never felt more at home. During the day we easily walked to the pool, beach, bay, and downtown, and in the evening we enjoyed playing cards, reading, and talking while spending time on the screened in porch. The house is very clean and the attention to detail is second to none. The hospitality, responsiveness, and care that Ruth provides is top-notch!

The BEST of Sunset Captiva
After having stayed in several other houses in Sunset Captiva this was our favorite by far! First off the house is tastefully decorated with higher end furniture so it was comfortable. The layout of the house differs (some have galley kitchens) while this has a large open concept living/kitchen combo with a large island that is perfect for cooking and gathering around happy hour snacks. The kitchen was super well stocked with anything we needed and the addition of beach chairs, beach towels and pool toys was fantastic. Ruth was super responsive to my questions and very easy to work with. We are so sad to be leaving Sunset Captiva #50 and hope to return soon.

So enjoyed our stay!
Loved our week in Captiva. Ruth was a responsive host and the place was clean, clean, clean! The location is perfect, the pool was nice, and the house had every amenity you would need to a peaceful relaxing week. The screened in porch was our favorite spot of the house. Definitely will be booking again next year.

Perfect as Always
My family has been coming to this property since 2011 and we wouldn’t consider any other place on the island. The decor, location, peacefulness, and excess of small details you may need for day-to-day vacationing with family can’t be matched. We all feel really grateful for our times here.

A wonderful vacation all around
I planned this vacation in Captiva knowing very little about the place. I was looking for a relaxing vacation with my adult children, we certainly had it. Ruth’s house has an excellent location, within walking distance of many good restaurants and the bicycle rental place. The house is in a very nice complex with pool, tennis courts and grills. There is a wooden boardwalk that leads to the beach. The house comes with all the necessary equipment to enjoy the beach and make the stay easy. I loved to have a fully equipped kitchen so I could prepare meals and an excellent laundry room to do laundry. We enjoyed having our breakfast in the screened porch and being close to the marina to visit the manatees in the morning. I hope we can return soon!

Sunset Captiva
We were so very lucky to be able to stay in Ruth's home. What a gem! The home is ideally situated in Sunset Captiva and just a stone's throw from the beach. It's also closely located to good restaurants and shopping. The open space kitchen/living area is ideal for socializing and is beautifully decorated. Hands down, the best stocked kitchen for perparing meals! Ruth was a gracious host and always available if we had questions. We highly recommend this home and will definitely be back!

Wonderful stay!
We loved our stay at this rental. It was very clean, had a wonderfully stocked kitchen and new appliances. The location was excellent, walk to the beach on one side and the bay with manatees on the other side of the complex. We swam in the pool everyday and our little guy loved every day. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back again next year.

Wonderful Captiva Retreat

What a terrific house, in an amazing setting. We have been going to Sunset Captiva for several years, and the place we normally stay in was booked, so we gave #50 a try. It was absolutely fantastic. It's beautifully appointed. Easily the best kitchen I've ever had in a vacation rental. I was a little concerned about its proximity to Andy Rosse Lane and potential noise, but no problem there: you can hear a bit of noise from the lanai just like anywhere in the Sunset Captiva complex, but inside the house I didn't hear a thing. Ruth is an outstanding host -- as attentive as you want her to be without being overbearing.

A gorgeous spot on Beautiful Captiva
We loved this house and our vacation. Even though a few in our group unfortunately experienced some illness during the week, we still came away with wonderful memories and a desire return very soon. We love Captiva and this house is spectacular. Everything we needed in the state-of-the-art kitchen, and bedrooms were spacious and beds very comfy. The roomy porch was a favorite place to hang out for all of us, including the kids. There is plenty of beach stuff--chairs, noodles, towels, sand toys, umbrella-- so we had no problem finding anything we needed. I would highly recommend this as a haven for families.

Comme des dizaines d’autres avant moi, je dirais simplement que l’on a pu vivre un séjour parfait dans cette maison. Tout y est accueillant, simple, beau, propre, soigné, bien pensé et agréable. La communauté de Sunset Captiva est tenue de main de maitre par George (à qui je souhaite d’excellentes Vacances dans le Massachusetts, sa terre natale). Bref, c’était MAGIQUE. Un grand merci aussi à Ruth Sones pour sa gentillesse. Bien entendu, je recommande sans réserve cette maison qui ressemble fort à un petit coin de paradis.

This was my family's first vacation stay on Captiva Island. Everyone was so pleased in my choice of accommodations. Sunset Captiva 50 provided ample space for my party of 6. The house was extremely well kept (beautifully decorated), comfortable, and CLEAN!! Maria does an excellent job!! I utilized the kitchen 3/7 evenings. Ruth has made a point to provide everything you can imagine for meal prep in her beautiful kitchen! The access to the beach was just a short stroll down the lane. The Sones' also have you covered for your beach outing. There were beach chairs, umbrellas, inflatables, beach towels, cooler, and even a beach wagon available to haul your beach supplies! This home is only a short walk to the local market, restaurants, and specialty shops. Just a FYI: There is a little place called Molly Malones (located at the local market) that sells fresh seafood (the scallops, coconut shrimp, and crab cakes were amazing)!! All in all, this is one of the best rentals that my family and I have stayed at. We would not hesitate in renting Sunset Captiva 50 from the Sones family in the future.

Wonderful family vacation
We truly had a wonderful week at Ruth's perfectly appointed home. The location is fabulous with just a quick walk through the quaint complex of Sunset Captiva to the beach and pool. Sunsets were beautiful and my kids (and myself!) really enjoyed the pool. We would definitely recommend staying here as all the other reviews already state! The Island itself has a lot to offer although it was hard to leave our little slice of paradise that is Sunset Captiva. We did a catamaran trip to North Captiva and got some really great shells and did a guided kayak tour of the bay side which was educational for the kids as well as a good opportunity to do some sight seeing. As most already state, do your shopping at Publix on the way as the Island store is small and expensive. I also recommend picking up some extra paper goods such as paper towels and bath tissue as we ran a little low with the kids!

What a beautiful house in a beautiful location!
Ruth's house is absolutely beautiful. It had everything we needed from kitchen equipment to things for the pool and beach. The pool on site was very clean and well looked after and the beach is only a few minutes walk away along the boardwalk. Everything on Captiva is walkable from the house (even in the rain we had). If we ever come ne back to this part of the world again we won't hesitate booking this house. Just stunning!

Interesting because the mattress in the master was shipped from our mattress maker in Salem mass and the downstairs twins are top of the line from city mattress.

Ruth's home is the best!
We had a wonderful time in Captiva! This was our first visit to the island and we will definitely be back! The house is perfect!! It has everything that you could possibly need! It was so great not to have to bring towels, linens, beach chairs, umbrella, etc! Ruth has provided it all! The beds are comfortable, the porch is fantastic, the family room is cozy, and the kitchen has it all! Ruth is very quick to respond to questions! We loved every minute of our vacation!! Thank you!!

Truly magical!
We loved ruth's beautiful home and are already making plans to come next year. The house is all you can ask for - tasteful, comfortable, clean and walking distance to beach, activities and restaurants. The bunnies around the property are icing on top of an already magical experience.

Another excellent vacation.
As always, Ruth was so easy to work with, and we had yet another great week at Captiva. This is our third year renting this house, and we keep coming back for several reasons; First, we live about 45 minutes away, but when we get there, it's like we are on vacation. When you live in Florida, you work and do not get much beaching time. It's easy for us also because if there is an emergency at work, which there always is for my husband, he can go quickly, and come back quickly. Second, the house is always clean and well appointed, and Ruth is so very easy to work with and so kind. This year we got a special surprise and a kitchen renovation had been done. It is absolutely beautiful and so nice to have. Third, it is close to everything. We never even drive our car when we are there. All restaurants are walking distance, the beach and pool are very close, and the marina is about 3 minutes away. Boat slip is great and all the guys at Jensens marina are very nice and helpful. We fish everyday, and they can tell you where to go, what bait to use, etc. We always come back with lots of great memories and many new shells to add to our collection. Great time and great family time. If you are looking for a very relaxing vacation without alot of "costly things to do" and are not in need of nightlife, this is paradise. Thanks again Ruth for having us, and until next year, be well.

Perfect
The location, the house, the amenities, everything was just perfect! The house has everything you need beach-wise and meal-wise. It's at the end of captiva and you have at least 5 restaurants, 2 general stores, and a Starbucks all within walking distance. Once we were there we never had to leave. The community pool was nice and warm the beach was great (not too crowded, good shells, and dolphins came by). We even saw manatees on the other side of the community. We will definitely be going back!!! I have been to the islands over 20 times and will only stay here going forward 😄
