This was my first time staying at this property and I must say that it deserves the word 'Grand'!! All the hotel staff were really professional, friendly and always smiling with full of energy all the time.
I did face some challenges in communicating with some staff members due to language barrier as I noticed that only the front desk staff was good in English.... But this didn't cause me any issues since I used Google translator.
Even though some were not able to understand English, but still they were very eager to help and tried to communicate well.
The room that I took was very nice and comfortable but was very dark due to the dark colour scheme on walls and furniture. But it might suite to others as we all have different taste.
Breakfast buffet was OK and not that fancy.
I loved the 24x7 open Bar that serves most of the popular alcoholic drinks.
Overall, I am glad that I stayed here and later wished that I should have stayed more. Definitely, it will be my first choice on my next trip to Batam and this time I will request for bright coloured room. Cheers!!

We book a room for 3 persons and it said multiple beds. When we checked in, we were shocked to find that there was only one king size bed for the 3 of us. I wanted to talk to the manager regarding this issue but was told the manager was not around and we were not allowed to change room. I remembered from the photo it was a big room with bathtub but the room was so small with no wardrobe, no place to walk and no place to put our luggages. It was a very small room. The room was too small for 3 persons to stay. The condition of the room was quite bad. Flooded every time we bathe, tap leaking, showers were almost dropping off and dangerous to bathe there. I highlighted these issues to the hotel but all these issues were not rectified and we were not allowed to change room. We suffered for the 5 nights there as we were all cramped up on only 1 bed. No place to walk and to hang our clothes. Not recommended and I hope Expedia can take note of such issues. If we have known that the room is so small, I would have cancelled my reservation with grand Eska and book another hotel which offers better and bigger rooms. It was quite a disappointing experience there.

The sink in the bathroom was so small with no space at all to put rinsing cup, toothbrush, toothpaste etc There wasn't enough space to put a bottle of hand wash so much so as after toileting, have to get body bath from the cubicle section to wash hands. There were only two hangers for hanging our clothing to air etc. Each time after housekeeping, they did not replace any toilet rolls too. There is no bench to put our luggage on to retrieve clothes etc. As for the lifts, the button to keep the doors open when exiting do not seem to be working well so much so that the doors closed within a minute after we were in the process of moving out of the lift. This happened multiple times already. The chair in the room also has a leg that is a bit loose which is dangerous if it falls out one day and can cause the person sitting on it to get injured. The breakfast spread is not fantastic and both the coffee and tea has a very strong smell too. The hotel lobbies and room itself also has a very strong smell when we first checked in. Eg like musty smell?

Bad experience as a family getaway hotel.
Room dirty. Pillow smelly. Many silver fish on the wall. Room smell mouldy but the staff managed to get us new room only the next day. This causes us to have flu and headache for the rest of the days.
Breakfast varieties limited.
Lift seems like going to breakdown.
Guess the only pleasant thing is that the staffs are polite.
Overall not recommended.

Corridors claustrophobically narrow, the room was tiny. However the main issue was the design of the toilet. Completely impractical. Long toilet with no extractor fan or ventilation. Shower stall at one end, and the only towel rack at the far end over the toilet bowl. No hooks or anything for your towel when showering. Have to walk to the other end to retrieve. The shower stall glass is also woefully inadequate. Simply too narrow to stop more than half the spray deluging the toilet floor.
Staff were well trained and polite. Also offered transport to us as needed. When we checked out, their drivers were out, so they called a Grab car to the harbour for us. Very nice touch
