Description

Visit the royal city of Windsor to explore the world's largest occupied castle before venturing to the mysterious site of Stonehenge. Finally, discover the beautiful city of Bath and its famous Roman Baths complex on this full-day tour rich in intrigue, history, and culture.

Windsor—the largest and oldest occupied castle in the world—is also home to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Discover the magnificent State Apartments, furnished with fine paintings by masters like Rubens, Gainsborough, and Rembrandt. Venture into tranquil St George's Chapel, which houses the tombs of kings and queens including Henry VIII and his third wife Jane Seymour.

Wind your way to the huge open plain of Salisbury Hill, where the 5,000-year-old secret of Stonehenge continues to captivate visitors from all over the world. Make your own mind up as to whether these massive stones were assembled as a religious temple, a Bronze Age burial ground, or something more ethereal.

Make your way to the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, the first city in England to be designated a World Heritage Site. It stands on the slopes of the River Avon and is home to the famous Pulteney Bridge and the best-preserved Roman Spa from the ancient world. Fuel up for sightseeing with a sandwich, chips, and a cookie, and then set off to tour the town. Visit Bath Abbey, the Bridge, and the Roman Spa itself to see the inner pump works and sample some fresh spa water before returning to London.

At Windsor Castle it was crowded time was readjusted to be back at the bus. While I left in plenty of time, I got a little lost. I called the emergency number hoping to let the guide know I was a little list and get guidance to the bus. I was told I had 3 minutes to make the bus. I reminded the person I was lost and needed a little guidance AND to let the guide know. The person offered the same advice w/apology. I appealed to them that this was my 2nd day in the country and didn’t want to be abandoned. I finally located someone who directed me in the right direction. The emergency contact person offered no help. I arrived just as the bus pulled away - it wouldn’t slow down despite the fact I was literally on its back right hand side. I was offered to wait for another bus to leave a few hours from where I was abandoned or find my way to a station to figure out a way back to the city. I no longer trusted that the company cared to help so found a way back to London.

The trip was good. Just wished there was more time spent in Bath. The lunch was ok, a cheese sandwich with one cucumber isn’t my idea of a lunch. Our Tour guide Pete Gill and bus drive(I can’t remember his name) were fantastic.
