Welcome to Aurora Wonderland Basecamp
Located in beautiful Lyngen, our base camp is surrounded by breathtaking fjords, mountains, and islands. With a good distance from the city, you'll find minimal artificial light pollution—providing optimal conditions for viewing the northern lights.
Step into our Crystal Lavvo for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Sleep in a lavvo heated by a wood-burning fireplace for an authentic Arctic experience. Equipped with a glass ceiling so you can keep an eye on the sky at all times—even from the comfort of your bed.
Enjoy the freedom of having the whole night to search for the northern lights from the warmth and coziness of your lavvo. If you are lucky, you might even catch different “Releases” during the night.

Information about snowmobile tour
The ride lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes. It takes you through the diverse terrain of the Montinus region of Lyngen.

  • To operate a snowmobile, you must have a valid car driver's license and be at least 16 years old.
  • It's required to show car driver's license to guide, so remember to bring it!

  • Snowmobiles are driven in pairs with one driver and one passenger per snowmobile (even if you book as one person). You will have plenty of opportunities to switch places during the adventure
  • Please dress warm. A woolen base layer and at least one pair of woolen socks are recommended
  • All participants must follow the rules discussed in the safety briefing. Participants that endanger themselves or others in any way, will be excluded from the tour without the possibility of a refund.
  • The snowmobiles are insured with a liability of up to 980 EUR. That means the driver will have to pay up to 980 EUR on the spot to cover damages caused by the driver. Following the rules set by the tour guides will greatly reduce the risk of damage.
  • The pickup time from Tromsø and the drop-off time in Tromsø can be subject to change, therefore please plan for some extra time between activities and/or travel plans.
  • We may cancel this trip at any time due to weather or safety reasons. In this case, a full refund will be provided.
  • This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a full refund or a different date if possible
  • one lavvo has accommodations for up to 4 people, but We never mix guests who don’t know each other in our Lavvos.
  • Please note that this is an adventure where you have to add wood to your wood oven yourself.
  • shared bathroom/toilet inside the villa and one outside toilet.
  • Note that this is not a driving northern light chase, and the whole experience will occur at the base camp.
  • There is no store/grocery store nearby, so come prepared
  • We do not sell alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own
  • Maximum one suitcase and one medium bag/backpack per person (due to transportation capacity).

Transportation to Basecamp: Enjoy a scenic journey from Tromsø, including a short ferry ride and beautiful views of mountains and fjords.
Nord-Lenangen
  • 1h
Activity: Upon arrival at the base camp, gear up with snowmobiling equipment, including suits, boots, and helmets. Our experienced guide will then give you safety instructions and show you how to operate the snowmobile. Enjoy the ride as your guide leads you through the diverse terrain of Lyngen.

Evening Experience: After dinner, we will share the Northern Lights forecast with you and get the fire started in your lavvo. Once your lavvo is heated, one of our guides will escort you there and show you how to maintain the fire. Please keep in mind that the lavvo is heated by a wood-burning fireplace. You can then enjoy a peaceful night in your warm and cozy lavvo, with the entire evening ahead to search for the Northern Lights—whether you're relaxing beneath the glass ceiling or exploring the base camp surroundings.
