Overview

In Japan’s Sengoku era — an age of war, ambition, and transformation in the 15th Centry— one man rose from the humblest origins to the peak of power.

His name was Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Born a poor farmer, Hideyoshi became Japan’s most powerful ruler, second only to the Emperor himself. During his later years, he found solace and inspiration at Daigoji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kyoto that he personally protected and helped to rebuild.

Nestled within over 660 acres of serene landscape, Daigoji is home to Kyoto’s oldest wooden pagoda and more than 150,000 National Treasures — a living archive of Japan’s cultural and spiritual history.

Here, guests can immerse themselves in the same sacred atmosphere where “Japan’s greatest self-made leader” once planned grand tea gatherings and admired the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms.

This program is offered in two distinct experiences, designed for different levels of immersion.
