Your adventure begins in the charming village of Stange near Ratschings, the most popular entry point to the imposing Gilfenklamm. Soon you will be accompanied by the sound of the water and the fresh mountain air. You will hike over bridges, along walkways and narrow paths through the middle of the only marble gorge in Europe. The Ratschinger Bach, initially calm, becomes a roaring wild stream here, which has carved deep into the white to bluish shimmering marble. Between narrow rock crevices and smooth walls, you will experience the raw power of nature. Again and again, spectacular views open up to you, looking down into the depths and at waterfalls cascading over the rocks. The path through the gorge is varied and vibrant – a fascinating interplay of water, rock, and light that you will not soon forget. If you prefer to hike downhill, you can also start the tour from Jaufensteg and explore the gorge as you descend – an equally impressive experience.
