What you can expect

Mutianyu is the most impressive section of the Great Wall of China accessible from Beijing, known for the beauty of its precipitous terrain as it runs along the high mountain ridges.

It connects Juyongguan Pass in the west with Gubeikou Great Wall in the east. As one of the best-preserved parts of the Great Wall, the Mutianyu section served as the northern barrier, defending the capital and the imperial tombs.

Besides its strategically important location and compact layout, the Mutianyu Great Wall is also famous for its breathtakingly beautiful scenery. Woods cover over ninety-six percent of the total scenic area, and the wall presents different aspects of beauty in each of the four seasons.
