What you can expect
Escape the bustle of the city to explore rural scenery of Southern Vietnam and get an up-close look at the famous Cu Chi Tunnels in Southern Vietnam. Learn about the lives of Vietnamese soldiers by going for a subterranean stroll through the tunnels, and get the chance to fire guns from the Vietnam War era at a nearby shooting range.
After getting picked up at your hotel, ride out of town to the site of the Cu Chi Tunnels, where Vietnamese soldiers ate, slept, and trained in an expansive underground network of tunnels, passageways, and rooms. Learn about the construction of the tunnels, buried beneath 10–13 feet (3–4 m) of soil to protect them from bombs, watch an engaging documentary, and squeeze through the narrow quarters yourself to see what life was like for these daring combatants.
Back above ground, visit the sites of huge bomb craters left from the war, and check out the exhibits and displays at the Garment-factory Ammunition and Souvenir Shops and the Museum of Self-made Weapons. Afterward, consider heading to the shooting range for the opportunity to fire an M-15, AK-47, and carbine rifle at the National Defense Sports Shooting Range.
Before you head back to your hotel, sit down to chat about your experience over a tasty meal of traditional Vietnamese fare. Morning visitors can enjoy steaming bowls of pho while afternoon tunnel trekkers can bite into flaky banh mi sandwiches.
