Children 2 and under are complimentary provided they do not occupy their own seat or require a meal. Infant rates apply to children aged 3-5 but only the bus seat is included in the price (i.e. no lunch)
The bus departs from Nagoya Station West Exit ESCA at 7:50am with the exception of July 14, Augusst 11-12, September 15 & 23, October 6-7, November 23-25 dates, where the bus leaves at an earlier time of 7:20.
This tour will be shared with Japanese customers and operated mostly in Japanese. Essential information on meeting time & place, itinerary etc. will be provided in English although detailed information on the sightseeing places won't.
The order of the itinerary may be changed depending on the traffic conditions.
What you can expect
Indulge in a day of traditional Japanese landscapes in Gifu prefecture's standout attractions Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go. Look forward to quaint old historic streets, a unique village, stunning mountain landscapes and sampling local delicacies.
Setting off from Nagoya station, sit back and relax on the 2.5 hour bus journey enjoying the landscape turn from an urban sprawl to the rural and rugged Northern Alps mountains, increasing the anticipation for the trip.
Time to stretch the legs at Hida Takayama where the picture-postcard prettiness is immediately striking. This well-preserved castle town is known as 'Little Kyoto' for its historic district full of character and townhouses from the Edo period. Wander through this area and have a poke around the various shops. The surrounding forested mountains and Miyagawa River flowing nearby provide the perfect backdrop.

Kei-chan chicken:a local chicken stir fry dish originating from the Gujo district of Gifu Prefecture and is chicken, which has been marinated in miso, soy sauce and garlic, pan-fried with vegetables such as cabbage and onions.
Hida beef hotpot: thinly sliced local Hida beef is prepared in a hotpot with vegetables 'sukiyaki' style (sweet soy sauce based broth.) A non-beef option can be prepared. Please mention this at the time of booking if interested.
No lunch: Free to choose your own lunch or bring it to the tour.
With bellies full, make your way to the World Heritage Site Shirakawa-go which is famous for its unique “Gassho-zukuri” style thatched-roof houses. Explore this special village to get a true sense of what rural life in Japan was like. Beautiful all-year round, make sure to snap some photos from the various observation decks before boarding the bus to return to Nagoya.
