What you can expect
Discover the essence of the Australian bush on a canoeing safari on the beautiful Goulburn River in Northern Victoria. The river gently meanders through the massive red gum forest, making for a relaxing and scenic adventure as you paddle your way through the lush environment.
Your half-day canoeing adventure starts at Wyuna in the Lower Gouburn River National Park which is 15-miles (25-km) east of Echuca. Meet your guide and go over a safety and equipment orientation to familiarize yourself with the canoe, paddles, and safety equipment provided. Then hop in your canoe after being driven up river to the starting point.
As you paddle down the river, you pass only other canoes and local fisherman, ensuring that your trip is relaxing and safely away from boats that would distract from the atmosphere. Listen for the sound of birdsong drifting through the red gum forest and keep your eyes peeled for a chance to see a shy platypus. Once you arrive at the end of the section allotted for you, you can hop on the bus for a ride back to where you started.
