En route, inhale the sweetly scented eucalyptus forest while locating the numerous koalas in their native habitat. Stop for lunch (own expense) at the foot of the Great Otway National Park in the seaside town of Apollo Bay. After lunch, wonder at the intricate beauty of the ancient rainforest and marvel at the region’s towering native hardwoods, some of the tallest trees in Australia.

Then it’s on to the legendary Port Campbell National Park and the majestic monoliths of the Twelve Apostles. Take in this natural wonder and be sure to capture this moment on camera. What a great trip! I've never been along the Great Ocean Road before and so expectations were high and I wasn't let down. Views were spectacular, both from the vehicle and on foot. Unfortunately I chose one of the hottest ever December days to do the trip. Despite the temperatures being over 40C (more than 104F), our driver (Dean) did all he could to make us comfortable and keep us safe. I was disappointed the rain forest walk was cancelled, but this was for our safety due to the bushfire alert and the extreme temperatures. Apart from two whinging and whining Americans from 'Manhatten', it was a great day and Dean was an excellent driver and tour guide. Thoroughly recommend doing this trip if you get a chance.
