09:00 Our guide will pick you up at the reception of your hotel.
Start your walking sightseeing tour in Bukhara. Visit Lyabi-Khauz Complex (a lively square with a pool, old madrasahs, and shady trees, a favorite meeting spot), Magoki-Attori Mosque (one of Bukhara’s oldest mosques, partly underground, with pre-Islamic layers of history), Chor-Minor Madrasah (a small madrasa with four unique turquoise-domed towers, very photogenic), Trade domes (historic covered bazaars where silk, jewelry, and handicrafts were traded for centuries), Kalyan Minaret (a 47 m tower from the 12th century, spared by Genghis Khan, symbol of Bukhara), Kalyan Mosque (huge mosque with a vast courtyard, able to hold up to 10,000 worshippers), and Miri-Arab Madrasah (a still-functioning Islamic school, famous for its grand blue-tiled façade), Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan madrasahs (side by side: Ulugbek’s simple elegance and Abdulazizkhan’s ornate design), Ark Fortress (former residence of Bukhara’s emirs, with royal courts, halls, and museums inside), and Bolo-Khauz Mosque (a mosque with carved wooden columns reflected in a pool, opposite the Ark). End of the tour.
