Overview

  • Marseille is a Mediterranean crossroads shaped by more than 2,600 years of trade, migration and cultural exchange. Gritty, lively and deeply connected to the sea, the city’s food tells the story of the many communities that have made the port their home.

We’ll begin near Gare St. Charles with coffee and something freshly baked before exploring neighborhoods beyond the Vieux-Port. Along the way, we’ll taste West African accras, Algerian bradj filled with dates, Marseille’s signature navettes and other specialties tied to the city’s diverse heritage.

There will also be locally caught seafood, Tunisian Jewish lemonade, Armenian charcuterie and plenty of encounters with the people keeping these traditions alive. We’ll finish near the port with apéro, joining locals for the beloved ritual of drinks, bites and conversation that captures Marseille’s unmistakable spirit.
