What you can expect

  • Bogotá can be experienced even during a layover. This Bogotá Stopover tour is designed for connecting travelers who want to make the most of their waiting time by exploring the highlights of the Historic Center : a guided walk through La Candelaria , a tasting of Colombian coffee and exotic fruits, and an introduction to the world of Colombian emeralds —with the option to add a climb to Monserrate Hill .

The tour begins at 10:00 am with pickup at the Fairfield Hotel Embajada, designed specifically for passengers with a layover in Bogotá who want to make the most of their time in the city without risking missing their connecting flight. From there, the panoramic bus tour heads towards the city center, showcasing some of the landmarks that define Bogotás modern side before entering the Historic Center .

Once in the city center, the guided walking tour of La Candelaria begins. This colonial neighborhood is the heart of the citys founding history. The tour starts at Plaza de la Concordia , a traditional market where you can sample exotic and tropical fruits—lulo, granadilla, feijoa—before continuing along the cobblestone streets to Chorro de Quevedo , the site where Bogotá was founded in 1538 and now one of the most photographed spots in the city center thanks to its street art.

The walk continues amidst history and flavor: youll sample traditional Colombian snacks and a cup of specialty coffee, while the guide recounts how this area transformed from the administrative heart of the colonial era into the cultural epicenter it is today. The tour culminates at Plaza de Bolívar , the political and historical heart of the country, and concludes with a visit to a Colombian emerald workshop, where youll learn why these stones are world-renowned for their color and geological origin.

Those who book the extension to Monserrate Hill ascend accompanied by a guide, who stays with the group for approximately an hour, sharing the history and significance of this hill for the people of Bogotá.

The activity ends at the top: travelers can stay for lunch or explore on their own, or descend with the guide, in which case the tour concludes at the ticket office below.

An efficient and authentic way to get to know Bogotá without leaving your travel itinerary.
