28.11. – 1.1. 2026 Kristína Mésároš
Paintings by Kristína Mesároš (1981) evoke surreal, dreamlike collages emerging from the subconscious, where memory functions just as much as the present. In her work, time becomes a vibrant mosaic, a world that is continuously broken down and rebuilt, shifting like staged magic between concrete memory and fading dream. The value of time accumulates into deeply personal and sometimes intimate patterns, which the artist then translates into painting. Certain aspects are unveiled, while others are intentionally hidden, subtly engaging the viewer’s imagination. The objecthood, including both figures and landscapes, transforms into a fleeting narrative of imaginary objects. These objects appear within the images rather than being physically present. Although the ‘core’ of these ‘objects’ is symbolically understood as familiar and recognisable, their outlines and surfaces have an ever-changing, transparent, and fleeting aura. This aura causes the object (be it figure, landscape, or object) to dissolve into an unstable substance that either blends with the surrounding frame or vanishes, sublimating within it. The edges of objects and their surroundings appear hazily unstable, blending into each other because their logic is not physical but dreamlike.
