What you can expect
Day 1: Make your way to the Guangzhou Railway Station and take a high-speed train to Guilin. Meet your guide and head to the renowned Reed Flute Cave, about 3 miles (5 km) from Guilin, and explore a world of stalactites and stone pillars illuminated by colored lighting.
Stop by the China South Pearl Store to learn how the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has cultured renowned South Sea Pearls—symbols of health, longevity, and wealth—for more than 1,700 years. Discover the traditional saying of “West Pearls are good, East Pearls are better, and South Pearls are the best.”
Next, head to famed Elephant Trunk Hill, a park along the Li River that resembles an elephant with its long trunk. After a ride to your Guilin hotel, spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2: In the morning, cruise upstream on the Li River, also called the Lijiang, and disembark at a small village to chat with a local family. Continue to Yangshuo, formerly a small town and now a tourist mecca drawing bicyclists and rock climbers.
Enjoy time to stop at one of the world’s biggest markets and follow your guide along West Street, a tiny S-shaped street dating back more than 1,400 years. After strolling on this lane known for its mix of traditional, modern, and foreign culture, ride to the Guilin train station and catch your train to Guangzhou.
