Mount Rushmore National Memorial
  • 1h
Your winter adventure begins at one of America’s most iconic landmarks, Mount Rushmore National Memorial. In the colder months, this place feels quieter, calmer, and almost cinematic, with crisp mountain air, snow-dusted pine trees, and far fewer crowds than summer. You’ll have time to take in the full view of the 60-foot granite faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln from the Grand View Terrace, where the monument stretches across the mountainside like something out of a storybook. Inside the visitor area, you can browse exhibits that share the fascinating history behind the monument, including how it was carved into the rock and the engineering challenges that made it possible. You're guide will fill you in on many of the stories behind the building of Mount Rushmore.

Inside, you’ll have time to explore the Indian Museum of North America, featuring authentic artifacts, artwork, and displays from tribes across the continent. This stop adds a deeper layer to the day, blending Black Hills beauty, culture, and storytelling into an experience you’ll remember long after you leave.
