What you can expect

Day 1 – Uros & Amantani
Your adventure begins with a visit to the Uros floating islands, where you’ll step onto the soft reed surface and learn how the Uru people have lived for centuries in harmony with the lake. There’s time to explore and even take a short ride on a traditional reed boat (optional activity) before continuing across the glittering waters of Lake Titicaca toward Amantani Island.

When you arrive, local Quechua families greet you at the dock and guide you to their homes, where a freshly cooked lunch awaits — a delicious taste of life on the island. After a short rest, the group hikes up gentle trails toward one of Amantani’s sacred hilltop temples, either Pachatata or Pachamama. From the summit, the views stretch endlessly across the lake, and the sunset paints the water in golden light. Back at your homestay, you’ll share a simple, hearty dinner with your hosts.

As evening settles, the community often organizes a festive peña — a night of music, dance, and laughter where visitors can dress in traditional clothes and join the celebration under a sky filled with stars. You’ll spend the night in your host family’s rustic home, where warmth and simplicity replace luxury. (Electricity is limited.)

Day 2 – Amantani, Taquile & Return to Puno
Wake to the quiet beauty of dawn and enjoy a homemade breakfast before saying goodbye to your hosts. A short boat ride brings you to Taquile Island, where a scenic stone path winds upward toward the main village. The walk rewards you with sweeping lake views and crisp mountain air.

At the top, your guide introduces Taquile’s fascinating culture — world-famous for its finely woven textiles and cooperative traditions. You’ll see how every color and pattern tells a story, even down to the men’s hats that reveal their marital status. There’s time to visit the local craft market before sitting down to lunch, often featuring quinoa soup and freshly grilled trout.

In the afternoon, you make your way back down to the dock and board the boat for the return to Puno. As the lake stretches behind you, it’s a peaceful time to reflect on the warmth, colors, and spirit of the islands — a journey that stays with you long after you leave.
