Riisitunturi National Park is one of Lapland’s most breathtaking natural wonders — famous for its surreal snow-covered “tykky” trees, pristine forests, and sweeping Arctic vistas. With Arctic GM, your visit becomes more than a hike — it’s a heritage-rooted Arctic expedition.
As Lapland’s Original Aurora Hunters™, our family has lived here for 20 generations since the 1600s. Trusted by more than 50,000 guests worldwide, Arctic GM is one of Lapland’s most respected tour companies. Every tour is fully operated in-house with certified, first-aid trained wilderness guides — never outsourced. We keep groups small (max 8 guests) and travel in brand-new 2025 Ford Tourneo 4×4 vans, ensuring both comfort and authenticity on your journey to Riisitunturi.
Your day begins with a comfortable pickup from your accommodation in Rovaniemi. After a scenic drive, your guide leads you through Riisitunturi’s pristine trails, climbing toward panoramic viewpoints over Lapland’s vast wilderness. Along the way, you’ll encounter the magical “tykky” trees — snow-laden giants frozen into otherworldly shapes, a natural phenomenon unique to Lapland.
This is one of the most photogenic landscapes in all of Finland, offering a true winter wonderland atmosphere and the chance to capture unforgettable Arctic memories.
Midway, we stop for a wilderness break. Gather around a fire to enjoy hot drinks and grilled sausages — a Lapland tradition — while surrounded by the silence and beauty of untouched nature.
The trek requires moderate fitness, as the terrain and snow conditions can make the hike more challenging. It is not recommended for children under 8 years old.
