What you can expect

You’ll begin your tour in the main concourse of Grand Central Terminal. Here, you’ll meet your guide and a small group of no more than 20 fellow visitors. Hear about Cornelius Vanderbilt, the railroad tycoon behind the ingenious design of Grand Central, and how it took three versions and a mixture of tragedy and innovation to bring about its final design. Many years later, you’re walking under the main concourse’s beautiful beaux-art style soaring arches that have become a cultural touchstone, and a path tread by a number of Hollywood heroes and villains.

Afterwards, you’ll step into Vanderbilt Hall. Years of neglect and disrepair motivated New Yorkers to restore Grand Central to its former splendor. See the famous Tiffany Clock outside in Pershing Square as well as a statue built to honor Vanderbilt’s memory. Next, walk the ramp down past the Oyster Bar – Grand Central’s first restaurant, with a diverse menu reflecting the cultural identity of New York.

You’ll continue uncovering a side of Grand Central most visitors never experience as the tour continues. Lay your eyes on one of the largest lost and found departments not only of any railway terminal but anywhere in the world! You’ll come out on the lively Lexington Avenue where you’ll have a perfect view - and photo op - of the majestic Chrysler Building. Going back inside, Grand Central Market awaits, boasting over 160 seafood varieties and 400 types of cheeses, meaning you’ll be spoiled for choice.
