Gaudí's Crypt is located in Colonia Güell, a textile village full of surprises, only 20 minutes away from Barcelona.
The Crypt is known as “the church of the twisted columns.” It is also regarded as the Sagrada Familia's lab, the place where the Modernist architect Antoni Gaudí experimented with many architectural solutions. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2005.
At Colonia Guell, you can view Gaudi's work but also stroll through its streets to see some of the colony's most impressive Modernist architecture.
Visit the Interpretation Center, locatedin the former workers' co-operative building, where they host a permanent historical exhibition that provides context for the Colonia Güell & recently has incorporated to the collection different models on how the church would have been had it finished the construction.
Remember that if you have the Hola Barcelona card, transportation to Colonia Güell is included.
